Steve9347
So, my main gripe and hatred of Viciedo has been his disgusting lack of patience. He had ZERO walks through the first 13 games this season (48 at bats). Since he came off the DL, he's a new player. In 12 plate appearances, he's drawn 4 walks. That's a big f***ing deal! Did a light switch on? Did the organization lay down the law? Or, more likely, did he f*** the Walk Fairy?

southsider2k5
Even his swing has looked tons better. It isn't that ridiculous pull swing.
Jake
I bet he was able to work on approach type stuff in the film room with Manto while he was out. It can help when you get to work on the theory side of approach without having to go out there and reinforce your bad habits before you totally grasp it. Dayan knows that he is one of the few threats actually taken seriously in the lineup right now, so there's no reason to play the pitchers' game and swing at pitches out of the zone. cabiness42
Or, more likely, did he f*** the Walk Fairy? If that's what works, then a gang bang is in order.

MEANS
it might be because it probably still hurts to swing a bat so he's not swinging at 100% yet, making him more patient up there, this injury could turn out to be a good thing.

TitoMB345
I'm good with it. I picked him up in a 20 man fantasy league, so he should provide me a decent offensive boost if he keeps it up. Go Dayan, go!
TaylorStSox
Maybe he's just repeating his normal progression through every level of pro ball. He's grown more patient on every level after repeating a year.

I was going to suggest this also. I hope not, but I've been watching White Sox baseball all my life, and the gut feeling is that this is likely the culprit. Doesn't have too be such a bad thing either- just line everyone up and strain some obliques.
TaylorStSox
His swing is still incredibly violent. If he's in pain, he's the toughest kid to ever put on a jersey because that swing is crippling for somebody with an oblique strain. To me he looks like he has more of a plan at the plate. Usually he reacts, see ball, hit ball. It looks like he's concentrating on a zone now.

There's no way he'd do that swing with a pulled oblique muscle, he'd be back on the DL in 15 seconds.
justBLAZE
Dayan is DH'ing batting 4th in the lineup tonight. Dunn playing 1B batting 5th. Paulie with the day off.
jeffro2525
It's very possible that the Sox line-up is so bad that Dayan is now looked at currently as the the guy who teams can't let beat them...thus the walks he's taking are a result of teams simply pitching somewhat around him. The difference is...there have been plenty of times that Viciedo simply would not let a pitcher walk him. Being willing to let a pitcher walk him would be an improvement. Agreed...it's been pretty obvious when teams get 2 strikes on Dayan that they aren't giving in and throwing pitches anywhere near the strike zone. This didn't used to matter. He would strike out on a ball in the dirt or fastball at his eyes. He's done a great job laying off the off-speed stuff out of the zone over the last week.
