I thought you said it was easy to find LF, 1B/DH types.

Why would they want to keep him?

They're afraid he'll become the next Chris Davis?

They'll probably keep him beacause theyre the Mariners & thyey have to.

But seriously, in you lives in that part of the world, would you give a f*** about baseball? I woouldn't. I'd be in the mountains.

You'd pay him $3 million + next year?

Sure, that's nothing. Somebody will pay that based on his pedigree. I'd rather spend that (and give up Jones) on Smoak than sign Morales to a long-term deal.

So you'd rather have Smoak at 1B based on what that you've seen that makes you think he'll turn things around?

Because he was once a top prospect? Because the M's have completely failed with most of their young hitting prospects (although Seager's been decent)?

While we're at it, why not trade Beckham for Ackley?

Just changing the scenery for a player almost never works for ex-White Sox position prospects. They struggle everywhere they go after leaving Chicago (unless you consider Chris Carter or Chris Young a huge success story).

If they want to have any fans in the stands next year...they would sign Morales and take a flier on Smoak as bench depth and a possible replacement for Dunn in 2015.

I think the Pittsburgh Pirates could be a potential match for Alexei Ramirez if they decide to trade him. I don't know think the Sox could snag of the Buccos top 4 prospects. Pittsburgh has frontline starting pitching prospects: Jameson Taillon, Gerrit Cole, and even Luis Heredia. Don't think you can get any of those guys. Also, their #4 prospect is OF Gregory Polanco. I don't really think that they could land him either. OF's Josh Bell and Barrett Barnes may be possible though. SS Alen Hanson is another top prospect for them. He may project to 2B. Not sure what the White Sox could conceivably get back but the Pirates need a SS and their system is deep enough to make a deal like that to make the playoffs while still keeping their long term future intact. I would target Alen Hanson, Josh Bell, and one of their minor league pitchers on the 2nd/3rd tear. Pitt could even throw in Jordy Mercer who could start at SS for the Sox for the time being.
