Balta1701
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 05:17 PM) Jared Mitchell is going to go into shutdown mode if Flowers is "wronged." Absurd. He's already in shutdown mode.
Marty34
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) If you're not saying bring him up tomorrow then you're agreeing with me that it's not time yet. I'd give Flowers until ~ the trade deadline. That's the level of shot I think he's earned. That's mid to late July. So if Flowers gets his average up to .215 and Phegley is still hitting .330, how can you make a change without Jered Mitchell being upset about it? Well first of all there is no one named Jered Mitchell in our system so I wouldn't worry about that.
TaylorStSox
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) RBIs is not a good stat to base his performance off of. It's always going to be heavily influenced by your spot in the lineup and how the hitters in front of you are doing. As for the HRs, what would he be on pace for if you excluded that three game stretch? Lets take out hot streaks for everybody then. Wtf kind of post is that? I bet I couldn't find a post where you and I agreed he needed a day off even if I tried. I think he deserves the day off, but I would have kept Keppinger in the lineup as the DH. Balta1701
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) Absolutely. Without question, great minor league numbers, cheap contracts. I see. So you're plenty willing to give time to develop to cheap trash from other teams with great minor league numbers, just not ones from the White Sox. Guys from the White Sox struggle, they need immediately replaced. Guys from the Royals struggle...hey, they're one swing away from turning it around! caulfield12
This line-up would struggle to win games in Charlotte. Well, KW's chickens have come home to roost, but to say Josh Phegley isn't being promoted to protect Jared Mitchell is equally ridiculous. How many rookie pitchers did we use last season? 11? There are plenty of opportunities for young players in this system...but you don't groom someone as a potential starter for 2-3 years and just give up unless you're 100% sure the next player in is ready and will be better. Clearly, if they keep losing game after game and fall out of contention, everything's up for discussion. As long as DET and CLE keep us within that 4-6 GB range, though, it's pretty hard to justify punting on the entire season when there's no reason not to at least wait until July with the way the schedule for this month is set up.
