Kyyle23
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) With barely 10 pages in a game thread, you're REALLY concerned about that? SIGH. Who said I was concerned? I'm just pointing out a fact. You should go make a thread with a poll about it
Joxer_Daly
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) Sox win 2 in a row Mental, isn't it?

Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) And it will be the same argument, the rotation's too left-handed. I'm coming around to the opinion we need to deal Quintana, as we'd get more for him than Axelrod. That said, you'd have to be bowled over with an offer. Unless someone's going to take the Danks contract off Hahn's hands. By the time Peavy gets back, it's going to be right around the AS break, they'll be moving someone right around then to do something.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Speaking of former Sox players, Clayton Richard is terrible now! To be fair, he was never really good.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) Hector Santiago as a starter..... 33 2/3 IP, 25 H, 16 BB, 37 K, 2.67 ERA, 1.21 WHIP BUT HEY, LET'S THROW HIM BACK IN THE BULLPEN. You had better really be rooting for John Danks to be good the next month.

caulfield12
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Who said I was concerned? I'm just pointing out a fact. You should go make a thread with a poll about it Up to you. Being outside of the control and only having access to just a couple of games on t.v., and having youtube and lots of videos not function here in China, I always enjoy when fathom and a few others point out things that are going on around MLB in gamethreads. Maybe they are sacrosanct and you should change the policy to never mention other teams, even the ones we're "competing" with in the AL Central. It's your call. caulfield12
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) Wasn't your post about Puig, Medlen, Minor and the Braves? Not quite the AL Central... I could understand a post about the Hawks/Bulls/Cubs or an AL Central/Wild Card competitor post but your post was both random and irrelevant. Just my two cents that I know you would love to hear. You'll be happy when I am touring in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania this summer that you won't have to fight with me... I guess everyone will still have Marty left to fight with at that time.
caulfield12
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) You're still not responding to the focus of my posts!!!! Quit feeling sorry for yourself. LOL. I assume you're voluntarily sending yourself to these terrible places that aren't America. Just try to respond to the posts you actually quote and stay on the subject of the thread and you'll be fine. Love you Caulfield, Brian Thanks for the writing advice, lol. Living one hour by plane from Bali next year, I'm sure I will continue to feel quite sorry for myself on the beach...haha. Dear Brian, It will take a lot more than a Master's Degree in Sports Administration, a passing knowledge of finance/law/accounting and posting at an MLB team's message board to get a job in baseball. Instead of spending time posting here, you should be doing a summer internship with a major, or worst-case scenario, minor league team in your area. If you can't procure that, you should be learning Spanish and offering to work in the Dominican academies, Venezuela, the Arizona Fall League, winter leagues, any place that will give you an opportunity to gain experience. If that fails, try the Japanese or Korean professional leagues, or scouting in Colombia/Brazil/India (lots of cricket players could be converted, the Pirates have already jumped into the fray in this niche), as well as Taiwan/China. Try to become a part of MLB's Ambassadors program, where you work in foreign countries promoting the sport and putting on coaching/demonstration clinics. Get to know the coaching staff of your local minor league team, invite them out to Hooter's after a game and pick up the tab, ask if they know anyone in the organization who needs help with something (for example, many teams still don't pour enough resources into making sure their Latin ballplayers have an easier assimilation into American Life in the lower minors or short-season teams that are often in small towns/rural places.) Everyone knows sabermetrics, so you have to bring something that's "value added," that differentiates you from the competition. P.S. Those aren't terrible places. They're beautiful. It seems you have never been outside the U.S., if you don't know about amazing destinations such as Victoria Lake/Victoria Falls or Mt. Kilimanjaro. You can't experience an African safari or see a completely star-filled night living in most urban areas of the world these days. caulfield12
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) Yeah, you're right I can't but you can't see see the whole city of Chicago 30 floors up let alone watch your favorites team's baseball games or see your family. I may be narrow minded but I'll take what I have here rather than living in Africa or China. I can always visit if the inclination arises. Every place has benefits but there's a reason we have immigration problems in this country. I would love to have this debate, and I've picked up on some of the things you've said about China, but it doesn't belong on the baseball side of the site. caulfield12
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) Just for argument's sake, here is proof of you exploiting an ex on an internet message board. Instead of focusing on that one little point I would prefer you respond to it all. Just want to know where you get off acting in the manner that resulted in my post. (Above) Yes, I'm right up there with child traffickers, internet pornographers and drug smugglers in the Golden Triangle. She has a lot more revealing pictures at her Facebook page, which is open access to anyone. By the way, you do realize 99.2% of those currently living in the US come from "immigrant" families, at some point in their family trees. The only true Americans are Native Americans who currently comprise 0.8% of the population. Edited June 10, 2013 by caulfield12
caulfield12
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) exploit- to make use of selfishly or unethically. You can literally NEVER stay on topic and actually respond to a post. I have given up on you, you're a lost cause. All I wanted to know was why you felt the need to tell me what to do with my life, why you felt you could be some sort of counselor to me, why you felt you were in any position to start talking about how I would approach a career in baseball and how you made all of these judgements without knowing anything about me. That's it. Nothing about the percentage of immigrants in a country. Yay. We can agree to block each other. This will be only the second time at soxtalk I've taken such a dramatic step, lol. Sunofgold or sunogold was the first. Edited June 10, 2013 by caulfield12
