Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) Hawk is a joy What'd he say? God I wish I had recorded this game.
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) How come Marty never posts when the Sox are on a winning streak? How come Dick Allen never posts when the Sox give up a late lead?
caulfield12
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) I can understand being afraid to triple him up with a fastball, but I sure as hell am not throwing a slider anywhere near the zone (probably not throwing a fastball in the zone there, either) Well, they did try the slider on the 3rd pitch, it was just 5-6 inches off the plate and he didn't bite. When those sliders flatten out and aren't getting that sharp, downward plane...watch out below if you're in the bleachers.

Wanne
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) Questionable pitch selection Crappy pitch from Reed that he hung....Flowers target was very low and away. But agree I'd of gone with the upstairs heater....
fathom
Gillaspie should have never been up there to face a LHP. That last swing was worse than NL pitchers.
caulfield12
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) How come Dick Allen never posts when the Sox give up a late lead? Haha. He'll probably try to start an argument that we're cheering for a loss or why are we subjecting ourselves to this or why do you watch the games if they don't bring you happiness? Baseball Maxim 108: Giving Up 9 outs in a game, you don't win very often, as well as not scoring in a situation with bases loaded and no outs. Troncoso next man in. Hilarious. Ventura might just go home tonight and not come back. Edited June 12, 2013 by caulfield12

fathom
Well, those were two of the ugliest strikeouts of the year. Has Flowers ever had a hit in the 9th inning of a game?
fathom
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 03:58 AM) Ventura is such a great manager. Lefties hit .117 against Cecil, so of course, that means Gillaspie should leadoff instead of using Keppinger.
caulfield12
"That didn't take long." Harrelson quieter now with the soft three hopper from Beckham to 2B.
greg775
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 02:58 AM) Ventura is such a great manager. I wish our bench was better. Would it have mattered who batted there off our bench? But you are right in that Conor had zero chance of getting on base.

caulfield12
Just for fun, we'll call it mistake #10, Ventura not pinch-hitting for Gillaspie against a LHP. That's arguable, if they had another RH reliever up in the pen that wasn't a good match-up for Keppinger, OR Ventura could argue that Gillaspie's giving him the better defense. It's not like Keppinger, Dunn and DeAza haven't been our best hitters recently. (Although Gillaspie, in fairness, had the key hit of the game until that Bautista/Reed at-bat, but was also 0 for June almost). I don't believe you can bring in a new pitcher once the pitcher goes to the mound to start an inning.
caulfield12
Harrelson already resigned to the loss, lol. Leadoff man aboard. At least it wasn't "there's the dreaded lead-off walk" for a change. Lind one of the hottest hitters in baseball.
