QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:52 PM)
I can understand being afraid to triple him up with a fastball, but I sure as hell am not throwing a slider anywhere near the zone (probably not throwing a fastball in the zone there, either)

Well, they did try the slider on the 3rd pitch, it was just 5-6 inches off the plate and he didn't bite.

When those sliders flatten out and aren't getting that sharp, downward plane...watch out below if you're in the bleachers.

C'mon like you guys didn't know that was coming?!

Bucket, how did u know it was coming? Addy has been arguably our best player this season.

Questionable pitch selection

Crappy pitch from Reed that he hung....Flowers target was very low and away.

But agree I'd of gone with the upstairs heater....

How come Dick Allen never posts when the Sox give up a late lead?

Haha.

He'll probably try to start an argument that we're cheering for a loss or why are we subjecting ourselves to this or why do you watch the games if they don't bring you happiness?

Baseball Maxim 108: Giving Up 9 outs in a game, you don't win very often, as well as not scoring in a situation with bases loaded and no outs.

Troncoso next man in.

Hilarious.

Ventura might just go home tonight and not come back.

Crain says "what?!"

It's not easy to get all those saves, blowing only one before tonight. I think my statement is correct since I said "arguably."

Ventura is such a great manager.

I wish our bench was better. Would it have mattered who batted there off our bench? But you are right in that Conor had zero chance of getting on base.

Just for fun, we'll call it mistake #10, Ventura not pinch-hitting for Gillaspie against a LHP.

That's arguable, if they had another RH reliever up in the pen that wasn't a good match-up for Keppinger, OR Ventura could argue that Gillaspie's giving him the better defense.

It's not like Keppinger, Dunn and DeAza haven't been our best hitters recently. (Although Gillaspie, in fairness, had the key hit of the game until that Bautista/Reed at-bat, but was also 0 for June almost).

I don't believe you can bring in a new pitcher once the pitcher goes to the mound to start an inning.
