So this means Axelrod doesn't have trade value? Haha, can't believe they thought he was better fitted to be a starter than Santiago

The way this season has gone, they trade Dunn and he goes on to be the MVP for someone in the NL the next 18 months.

Oh, well.

They have an extra roster spot on Friday. Even though they don't need a 6th starter, maybe they give Johnson a look against the Indians.

It might be too early.

OTOH, there aren't a lot of other possible candidates...unless they went with someone like Castro or Rienzo first.

Why does it seem like all White Sox games go 3 1/2 or 4 hours these days?

DJ said their (Royals) supplemental first round draft pick's going to go ahead and have that hip surgery. Pretty ballsy to draft someone so high you know's going under the knife.

Maybe Alexei should lead off. Better OBP and more stolen bases

But Alexei's not going to steal bags at will.

He does it sneakily, but he's not a pure basestealer. He'd probably have a lower percentage than DeAza if he was EXPECTED to steal bases from that spot in the line-up.

Down goes Konerko.

3 K's in the inning. More bad baserunning.

Is De Aza expected to steal bags? Is anybody on this team expected to steal bags? I don't think so.

The leadoff hitter typically is expected to be capable of stealing 30 bases, yeah.

Unless he's on the Oakland A's.

I didn't ask that. I asked if De Aza was expected to steal bags? He has attempted to steal 11 times I think, that is horrible for a lead off hitter. So I don't expect him to steam

Last year, 15 teams got fewer than 25 stolen bases from their leadoff slot.

I'm not talking about perception, not the actuality.

Like power forwards should rebound (the anti Bosh) and point guards should be creative passers.

Doesn't mean it's going to happen, but that's part of the reason we've spent so much time and energy and resources drafting players like Mitchell, Walker and now Tim Anderson. Because KW/Hahn have always desired that prototypical guy, ever since Pods became an ineffective basestealer and they also tried to force Pierre into the role when he was no longer effective in that role.

Finally, some of those teams without a lot of steals from leadoff....I'm going to bet they came from teams where they had strong 3-6 hitters i the order and they didn't want to sacrifice outs on the basepaths. Whereas this Sox team has to be more creative in finding ways to score.

Maybe we should deal with reality. The farther we get away from the PED era , if that's even possible, speed , pitching and defense becomes more important at as many positions as possible .A lead off man stealing bases is not all that important. Over all team speed is.
