Interesting read. Not so much directly a comment on gun reform as it is gun/rap/gang culture.

Or the "gun/rap/video game/gang culture" is the scapegoat that masks the real debate.

In other words, if the person who committed the crime was Joe Borchard, a Stanford player and son of a migrant/farming family...then it would totally change the media slant and we'd actually have to ask more penetrating/probing questions about guns.

I don't think he presented it as a scapegoat so much as an issue that has to be dealt with either prior to or simultaneously a discussion on gun control.

But how?

I say this as someone, like Tex, who has been teaching high school and university students the last decade.

The difference is that I've lived mostly in countries without any handguns allowed legally, vs. the USA. (Then again, I did live in Colombia for one year, lol).

I will never get the 5 minutes back I spent on that article. Aaron Hernandez is was a millionaire, Im not sure how you blame this one on the "evil corporate white men running the gun industry."

Fixed.

If he's still a millionaire, he won't be soon. And that's a big IF. People as stupid as he is usually end up with nothing sooner than later. Odds are, he's already swimming in red ink because of all the money he had coming. Had being the key word, because he no longer has it coming.

But I agree on the rest of your point, article was stupid.
