Dick Allen
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) Maybe Lebron should end his theatrics and stop being a clown if he wants people to take him seriously. He really embraced that heel role a few years back. He's getting better but still a very unlikable guy. (Great player though) He admitted "The Decision" deal was just plain wrong. LeBron seems as likeable, if not more, as any of the great players close to his stature in pro sports.
Kyyle23
It would be interesting to see how Jordan would have been perceived if he played today in these days of instant news/reaction/social media. Something tells me it would have been so favorable

Granted a lot players do it but it Lebron wants to toot his own horn as a legend, he should embrace that role more. That being said #Lebroning is hilarious and its just coincidence that its him.

Something tells me it would have been so favorable The local media probably would still have given him the reacharound, but the national media would have torched him on many occasions. For example, punching out teammates at practices.

Soxbadger
I think infidelity would have played into his likability. Reports of children, etc its just a different age. I bet people have been following Lebron with cameras since hes been 16, trying to catch any slip up.
Dick Allen
I don't think you need Twitter or Facebook or a camera phone or the internets to realize Michael was gettting a little at every port. How much did Magic's HIV diagnosis kill his likeability?
Soxbadger
As a kid I really cant remember them saying that much about MJ. Balta1701
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) The Decision is history. But you know what? We just talked yesterday about how the existence of these super-teams is destroying the NBA because it's no longer entertaining to watch unless 1 of the 2-3 super teams is playing each other, and even then in the playoffs we know what's going to happen. Regardless of how he "announced it", that backroom deal has made the league into a terrible, unwatchable show.

Just that he gambled sometimes, I dont remember it being like TMZ or yahoo news with every day celebrity news bombarding me. There still was plenty of gossip. The punching Kerr's face is on here as an example. Well, the reason it can be used as an example is because it was out there. Obviously it's a fishbowl existence for everyone now, but back then, I don't think it was any less a fishbowl existence for guys like MJ. MJ is still prominent now. Do you really think he's changed his ways much? Edited January 15, 2014 by Dick Allen

How much did Magic's HIV diagnosis kill his likeability? How did Tiger Woods infidelity kill his likeability? And Magics HIV briefly alienated him from the NBA, nobody wanted to come near the guy. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) MJ is still prominent now. Do you really think he's changed his ways much? He is nowhere near as prominent as he used to be. He pops up in Hanes commercials and every once in a while he is seen out with his wife. HE was a serious player back in the day, the press knew about it but didnt want to lose quotes so they just didnt say anything about it.

The question isnt "do you believe guys arent cheating" The question is "Do you think MJ's image would be tarnished because of social media catching him cheating and exposed him" The first question doesnt matter, it is irrelevant. The second question I answer with a resounding yes And even though the Magic situation really isnt similar at all, his image WAS tarnished.
