witesoxfan
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) There's a report that Howard left LA because he wanted the Lakers to phase out Kobe Bryant after the 2013-14 season. Really wouldn't have surprised me if that 50/50 report was Howard calling the Lakers and saying "I'll sign with you if you get rid of Kobe" and Kupchak simply dismissing it as assinine. Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) If he wants to win a title, he just might. Carmelo has been reportedly b****ing all off-season about the Knicks bringing in another star to take the load off of him (lol@bargnani). But let me stop. I forgot. We're the Bulls. Third largest market in the country. Nothing ever makes sense. Can't mess with the core. #goBlackhawks!

I really don't see how Carmelo would help the Bulls beat the Heat. Unless he's willing to defer to Rose and play defense, which I don't think is likely. Soxbadger
If it was purely Deng being swapped for Melo, Id think the Bulls would have a better chance to beat the Heat. But this isnt happening.
Jake
I just can't imagine a team with Carmelo on it being a great team. He wins games on his own, but he tends to minimize his supporting cast more than anything else.
ZoomSlowik
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) Bulls are reportedly looking to extend the contract of Deng between the value of the Smith and Iggy's deal. I don't want to bash them for the lack of creativity once again, I am just perplexed on their man crush on Deng. This franchise needs to learn to move on. He's a solid player, but not a great one. I'm sure Thibs loves him for his D. That's too much money though, I'd go 3/30 absolute max. His wrist issues seem to be screwing with his jumper and I'm pretty sure that only pays him through age 31. ZoomSlowik
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) It would serve them best to be bad again and get a shot at Wiggins. Could you imagine that s***? LeBron would definitely go back. Irving/Wiggins/LeBron=game over. Or trade Irving for the sickest package in nba history. If Irving and Varejao are relatively healthy, that's way too strong a duo for them to get a top-5 slot in the lottery given how s***ty some of these other teams are. Plus the odds of them winning the lottery two years in a row is pretty slim. They can still wind up with a solid player, though that would require them picking the right guys (Barnes looks like a better fit for them than Waiters and I don't think Bennett was the right choice). ZoomSlowik
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:07 AM) I don't get it? The Bulls are just boring and terrible. Luol Deng is an old 28. You lock him up now then he becomes impossible to move. Carmelo can become a FA after next year. A franchise with vision would be focusing on him. Yes, winning 60-ish games is SOOO terrible. They're going to have nowhere near enough cap room for Melo. You have to remember that he can get north of $20 million. Rose, Melo and Noah alone is almost over the cap if Melo gets everything he can.

Steve9347
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) They won 60 games once. Who cares. Give them a banner along with LeBron's Cavs. Yeah, I get it. Whenever a star is possibly available we're never in the running because of XYZ. Yawn. The Lakers probably end up with him and more anyway. I see your points. I love your points. I hate that the Bulls don't just go make something happen. Teams make deals all the time. You can bet your ass the Heat will find a way to flip Bosh for something way more useful next offseason to keep LeBron from opting out. You know the Lakers will take this one season off and then land some monsters next year. They make the moves because they're the big boys. But why are they the big boys and the Bulls aren't? Why do the Heat go out and get Shaq to win a championship? Then they land LBJ? Why are the Bulls always small potatoes when they're in the third largest market in the country? Because they are run like small potatoes. They should have a team of people dedicated to kissing ass and creating awesome presentations and Chicago tours that are built to wine, dine, and end with a free dick sucking to lure in top talent and make Chicago a destination. They continue to live off a dynasty that has been gone for 15 years now in one of the most out-dated arenas in the country. No one playing now gives a damn about your Michael Jordan. They want state of the art facilities and a team with vision. They see three old-ass guys in suits that are too big telling them about hard work and dedication. Do you think potential talent in the future won't look at the fact that LMA asked to be traded to the Bulls and they sat on their hands instead of getting the deal done? Yes, Portland's asking price was steep, but other teams manage to skirt asking prices and get the guys they want and we all sit back thinking "how the f*** did they do that"?? How did the Rockets get Harden for next to nothing? It's always someone else. Our management team acts like we're based out of Boise, Idaho. Our joke of a GM who has never really done anything decides to have a dick-measuring contest with our 2nd most valuable commodity (Thibs). It's a joke. But here we go. We got MDJ! WOOOOO! We're set with the core! I can't wait to get a 2 seed and get bounced by the Heat whenever that time comes (if our star decides to suit up #TheReturn and now apparently #BackWithAVengeance). I'm sure I'll talk myself into the Bulls having a legitimate shot only to watch LBJ shut down our only legitimate scoring option in crunch time. It's baffling watching the Bulls stall year after year and cram the same recipe down our throats and act like they're doing it the "right" way. The only reason this team ever won 60 games post-Jordan was because of complete f***ing blind luck in winning the lottery (and having a coach that maximizes everything from his players). Years later, after his team (see: Rose, Reggie) has b****ed non-stop about getting another star on the roster, Derrick Rose is half a gimp and management is pissing off the coach. The second scoring option is still Luol Deng with a bad shooting wrist. Great. Let's f***ing extend him. Edited July 11, 2013 by Steve9347

There's 25 or more teams that would trade places with the Bulls. BFD, so the Lakers get Melo. They're going to have Nash, Melo and basically nothing else. They MIGHT have Kobe, they pretty much have to renounce his Bird rights or get him to agree to a massive paycut to have any kind of cap space. The same goes for Gasol. That team is not a lock to be better than the current Knicks. The reason they might have cap space is because there's absolutely nothing on that roster. American Airlines Arena (Miami) is only about 5 years newer. It's not like the UC was a dump when it was built either. The only real disadvantage they have that's stadium-related is that it's in a city that NBA players seem to think is in Siberia because of it's notorious winters (or some s***, I don't know). Even if they could trade Deng for Durant straight up, a lot of people would still pick Miami (keep in mind OKC isn't even the unanimous favorite in the West with Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka. Oh, and they've done nothing to improve this season either and traded f***ing James Harden. mid-90's Sonics!!!1). Adding Monta Ellis or trading two starters for LaMarcus Aldridge isn't going to change that. You seem to want them to make moves just to make moves. This isn't the 2005 team where they couldn't get Kobe, KG or Pau because they didn't want to mess with a 45 win team. Jake
Bulls fans are very bored. We are better constructed to beat the Heat than any team in basketball. We'll see if it works. It didn't once, with less shooting and experience, two years ago. Maybe two tries will be the charm.
