Great read on putting together the US team.

Also, Saad was the last forward cut.

Very, very cool that they gave him such access and let him publish everything. Although Bobby Ryan can't be happy to get publicly s*** on by so many big hockey names.

We are a bad shootout team.

While it is exciting, I hate that playoff spots can be determined by shootouts. You would think the Hawks would be better with all the top skill players they have though.

It's far from exciting at this point now that it's what, year 9 of it? It was stupid to begin with, and it's even more stupid now. And it's more stupid that wins playing real hockey are worth the same as wins in a skills competition.

Stupid, all of it.

Shootout shooters: The Blackhawks were one of the league’s better teams at converting shootout chances last season. They scored 16 goals on 38 chances and were ranked 11th with a 42.1 percentage. They have struggled in that area this season. They’ve scored nine shootout goals on 38 chances and rank 23rd at 23.7 percent. Patrick Kane is especially been off this season. He’s failed on all eight shootout attempts this season after leading the Blackhawks with six shootout goals last season. The Blackhawks are still 4-4 in shootouts, mostly due to their goaltenders, who are fifth in the league with .765 shootout save percentage.

(CBS) Friday, the NHL announced Patrick Kane as it’s 1st Star of the Month. For those counting, that’s two months in a row that Kane has taken home the figurative hardware.

He’s been great, right? Certainly a prime candidate for the Art Ross Trophy for league MVP. Well, not if Michal Handzus has anything to say about it.

Take a look at this handy dandy stats page. Kane, while playing with Michal Handzus, the center he’s been paired with most often this season, has not recorded a single goal.

You read that correctly.

Not one goal with Handzus, his main centerman, centering his line. He has tallied six assists, but it seems almost impossible that in 222:44 of even strength ice time together, the NHL’s fourth leading goal scorer hasn’t dented the net.

Kane has spent the second most even strength time with Rockford’s Brandon Pirri. In those 171:53, Kane has registered three goals and seven assists. So four more points in 51 fewer minutes of ice time.

Even the casual observer can tell that Handzus and Kane don’t work well together. Handzus has the speed of a semi on an icy road, and slows Kane down when they’re on the ice together. This was painfully obvious during the 2013 playoffs. Whenever Kane and Handzus were paired together, the Hawks seemed to struggle. In fact, Quenneville’s “break glass in case of emergency” move of putting Kane with Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell was lauded as the move of the playoffs. The trio began the season together, but Quenneville quickly tinkered and broke up the line.

Some genius please repeat yourself with your four years of hockey fandom and tell me why Corey Crawford was worth that moronic contract. Raanta is just as capable and costs 1/12 as much. Crawford is nothing f***ing special.
