Not exactly a stellar offseason for Bowman between the Bickell & Crawford deals.

At least some of us here were able to see through the shiny Stanley Cup aftermath and call them out as bad deals when they happened.

I guess I just think it is harder to find a starting goalie than it is a third (or fourth) line winger. I do not think Crawford is worth his contract but I understand that signing more than I do Bickell.

With the talent in the system, Bickell was a shock to me.

A legit, oh my goodness we have a stud, starting goaltender is pretty hard to find. Crawford is not, and never has been, said guy.

Sadly, he's now paid like it.

The only goaltenders who will make more than Crawford (next season) are:

Pekka Rinne

Jonathan Quick

Roberto Luongo

Cam Ward

Ryan Miller

Kari Lehtonen

Tuuka Rask

Oh my, does Crawford belong nowhere near that list of talent.

Don't forget Henrik Lundqvist too. His new deal pays him $8.5 million per year.

*edit* his cap hit is $8.5 million per year, his actual salary next year is $11 million.

Cam Ward? Ouch.

Not sure what you are trying to prove I never said he was anything more than a more important resource to the Blackhawks than Bickell is.

If I wanted to argue for his signing which, again, I am not, the question would not be who is making more the question is who was available this past off-season to replace him?

Agreed. I'm with you -- I didn't like either deal, but Crawford made slightly more sense.

Ray Emery

other replacement like goalies that don't cost $36 million over 6 years
