Jake
This MotownTiger poster had it right on Avisail: This is how I feel - he's an athletic freak and he can actually play some baseball unlike some other athletic freaks.
flavum
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:44 PM) Garcia's upside = Alex Rios? How about Rios, but hustles?
iamshack
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) Listen, guys. Fathom likes Avisail. I think that tells you all you need to know I'll admit I liked what I saw out of him before, but the fact that Detroit willingly moved him to us frightens me a bit...the fact that Hahn made this crazy trade makes me feel good about him as a GM though...Kenny would have traded for Middlebrooks last week. justBLAZE
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) What's the official return? Garcia plus 3 low-level prospects from Red Sox.
daggins
Someone tried to troll me on another board by saying we got Josh Reddick. Which is funny cuz I don't remember Reddick annihilating AAA as a 22 year old.
Springfield Soxfan
I am going to be in Winston Salem on Thursday night to see the Dash as we head to the Outer Banks for a family vacation, and then Kannapolis a week later on the way home. Hope to see some of these new players. My wife rocks. The analysis of this trade is insightful and is making me laugh out loud. Thanks much. DirtySox
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) I like it. Nice tools and he has some offensive upside...none of it has really shown up as of yet though. Yep. I'm okay with him as well. I want Manuel Margot too. Heads22
Well, we need a new banner. Either way, Garcia is definitely a high upside guy.

Buehrle>Wood
The Cubs absolutely schooled us here if the other three are no names.
justBLAZE
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Wow. Anything to towards who the prospects may be? Cleuluis Rondon a 2B / SS. 2 unconfirmed.
Knackattack
Well, I'm glad we have our new starting right fielder and that he was actually a highly rated prospect, I'm sure he would be our #1 guy if we made a list today and I feel like that + cash saved for other deals really makes this the best value possible for Peavy, in that it may make our returns better in other deals. So here's to Avisail or whatever the hell it is raking in Chicago and the other old dude's turning into awesome young prospects. Yay
hi8is
I've been jealous of Garcia since first seeing of him. Niiiice

They didn't get anyone nearly as good as Avisail And they aren't about to use saved money in other deals to get even more exciting players
TaylorStSox
Between Sanchez, Simien, Johnson, Rondon, Beckham and Anderson we should be good in the middle IF and UT in a few years. Between Garcia, Thompson, Viciedo, Hawkins and Walker, we should have a decent OF and 4th OF. We have pitching. Now fill the holes with all the money we have. At least it's a plan. Pretty sure they just took advantage of the Rangers being desperate and Garza not being owed anything past this year. Really sounds like Peavy's additional year on his deal was more of a negative than a positive.

Yeah, I like trying to build the system from the middle out. If you end up needing a corner guy, you can always make a MIF/CF into a CIF/RF-LF
Heads22
It's like the Tigers wanted to make sure that Boston had enough pitching for the playoffs.
