It is pretty awful. The package the Cubs got was indisputably better for an inferior pitcher and less of a market. Reading through this thread the package we got was lower than the lowest of expectations.

That said I'm excited about the money if we put it back into the organization. Certainly the best part

Q: Would everybody be happy if Garcia had been hitting .330 in the big leagues? No, we wouldn't have been able to get him probably. He'd be the talk of baseball. But fortuantely Austin Jackson returned and he had to be sent down. What if this guy is a stud for the next 10 years in rf? I'm excited cause he's not a guy the Sox drafted, it's another team's prospect. Maybe he's good.

I'm happy with this, we traded an aging injury prone starter with 20 Million left, for a freakish OF who was plugged in down the stretch during a playoff run and performed last year. This year he is taking in AAA and is a guy we can plug in right now. On top of that we got 3 high upside prospects, one who can throw 100 and k/BB rAtio is impressive for a young pitcher, a good defensive SS who is 19 and can turn it around with the bat, and another pitcher who pitches high 90's and was drafted last year. Good work Hahn.

Not this trade looks a lot better with Rios gone at the least, if we can move Rameriez as well so be it. We can eat money if needed with the savings from Jake, would love to get another top taken and exciting prospect like AG.

Not an awful deal, as I think Garcia is more of a sure-thing to be a everyday starter than someone like Cecchini.

I think this sums up the deal up nicely. Garcia is an excellent #1 piece IMO, but not getting a 2nd top propsect is very disappointing. Unfortunately, it's hard to expect much more than what we got without picking some money. Hopefully Hahn has a plan in place to use these cost savings tomorrow in potential Rios & Ramirez deals to generate better returns.

Garcia going to Charlotte for now.

I knew it. We can still screw this up by keeping f***ing Rios. GOT TO TRADE RIOS. Just have to so Garcia can be called up. My god. Get rid of Rios tomorrow, Mr. Hahn, even if you have to eat 3-4 million on the deal.

I'd be all for sending Rios to the Yankees if they pay all of Rios' pact.

Wait til we trade reed along with alexei tmrw. All our cream will shortcircuit the soxtalk servers.

Ramirez, Reed, and Lindstrom to the Cards? I can see that. Curious what a return would be on that. Redbirds need pitching help and is it possible to send them a starter for a better package?? Just throwing that idea out there...

If you're not going to get much for him and have to eat a lot of his contract, you're much better off saving him and hoping he can finish strong and then deal him this offseason. As you saw in the Peavy deal, teams aren't too interested it seems in high-priced guys with a lot of money left on their deals.

I completely agree, and still believe the Rangers desperate move to give up too much for Garza made expectations unrealistic.

We could have an outfielder for the next six years+. We were not going to get someone like Tallion in a deal for Peavy, and not likely Ceccini either. I'm happy with it, only quibble is maybe getting another minor leaguer closer to majors.

I feel like the Tigers getting f***ed over was part of it too.

Viciedo's on his usual progression. Starting to figure out RH pitchers and showing more patience after repeating a level. Still love the kids potential.

He's hitting better. And walking some. Still a low rate, but not so low for this organization.

I'm also feeling no worse than a top 3 pick in the draft now

You know we're going to win like 20 out of our last 24 like we usually do when we suck but can't do to save our lives when we are actually decent.
