Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

I am just hoping Garcia can turn into a slightly lesser version of Carlos Lee.

Ultimately, we got a lot lesser than what the Cubs got for Garza, when trading arguably the more talented pitcher.

this is highly debatable

I missed it what was bucket alluding to?

Jake mentioned that not paying any money for Peavy might pay immediate dividends tomorrow when we make further trades...Bucket seemed to imply that Jake had hit on something there

I completely agree, and still believe the Rangers desperate move to give up too much for Garza made expectations unrealistic.

Unfortunately Peavy got injured or maybe the Rangers would have went after him instead.

With Yadier Molina likely going on the DL, maybe the Cards go after Alexei again to boost their offense?

They should definitely trade for Flowers as well then.

Mike Olt has bust written all over him with all those Ks. I like our #1 better. Their 2 is nice though.

Garza was owed peanuts compared to what Peavy had coming the rest of the way. We still got a top prospect in Garcia, shed $20 million and if 1 of the 3 BOS prospects work out in a few years, we will have easily won the deal.

Also, I like to think you can add some potential FA signings as part of this deal (Just like in 05 Carlos Lee did not equal only Pods and Vizcaino, but also partially to Pierzynski/Dye/Iguchi). I don't think there was anyway the Sox would have eaten portions of Peavy's contract and also potentially Rios' and/or Ramirez's contracts while also signing an impact player in FA in the offseason.

An impact FA makes no sense because this team won't be competitive next year and they need the draft pick they would have to give up.

Taking out the cash is basically ignoring half the trade.

Hahn did fine, and Garcia is an excellent prospect.

Boston two years of an excellent starter with injury history for around market rate, a lil below maybe, for basically nothing, so they're the real bandits.

Det. got hosed, so far.

Pure guess on my part, but I think they add a shortstop and pit the Sox and Angels against each other
