Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

I am the "he" and I was quoting the poster over at Cards Talk.

P.S. Can anyone on the board get Bucket to attest to how true this is and, if so, how close it might be?

I was thinking the same, lol. I'd love for Bucket to drop in with a little something.

I don't understand why the Sox would have any interest in Wong. 2B is the one position where they seem to be okay. Beckham can be moved to SS. But Sanchez is probably more a 2b than SS. Johnson, for now, is a 2b. Then you have Semien and DeMichelle that have upside. I don't see how acquiring Wong is even in the equation, especially if he's the centerpiece of a deal.

I like that Hahn is seeking guys that can help next year. Freese and Adams would be a very nice return. Right there is the corner IF's for the next 3-5 years. I don't thnk the Cards will include Freese though. Give me Adams, Martinez, and Anthony Garcia for Peavy.

OK, guys, we have news or at least a rumor of news.

On a Cardinals board (associated with the Post Dispatch), someone just posted that the WS want Adams, Freese, and Joe Kelly for Ramirez and Peavy. Supposedly, this was just mentioned on a Chicago sports talk radio station. The hang-up apparently is Freese, who the Cardinals don't want to trade. Take it for what it's worth.

P.S. Supposedly, it is a FOX affiliated station.

Only we would let a 30 year old scrub determine the blueprint of our rebuilding plans.

You can never have too many good looking ball players even if they all play the same position. The odds are highly against Sanchez, Johnson, Semien, and DeMichelle from ever doing anything in the big leagues. Same goes for Wong. But hey, maybe 2 or 3 of the guys actually pan out, and than you are in a position of power and are like the Cardinals where you are trying to find playing time for several good players who can also be used as trade chips.

Plus, Wong is MLB ready, as opposed to all the other 2B in the system who are all at least another year away.

I'd still be pretty damn happy with Freese, Adams, Kelly.

If it seems that the Cards are more keen to hold on to Freese than Wong...you take a hardline position - you want Freese. Then, hopefully, one of two things happens:

A. Cards ask us to consider Wong instead

B. We "give in" and ask for Wong.

Then we get Wong, the guy we wanted all along.

Oh... I don't know.... Maybe it has to do with being the 79th highest rated prospect in all of baseball.

Could be the advanced baseball IQ that's far beyond his years...

Might be that the kid has put up solid numbers in every level in the minors...

2011 - .335 / .401 / .911

2012 - .287 / .348 / .754

2013 - .301 /. 359 / .824

He's got some pop, a good K/BB rate, has a good amount of speed, and is controlled for a loooooong time.

Clocks not even started yet.

The thought process would be that you don't pass up on the opportunity to acquire Wong who has a decent shot at becoming a first division second baseman (though his ceiling goes no higher than the ground floor of the 1st division) when your system is inundated with players who are serious long shots to ever reach that level. You don't pass up on a very good talent like Wong because of Micah Johnson, if by some miracle one of those guys does pan out, then you adjust accordingly down the line.

What makes Wong so much more likely to stick in the pros than Semien?

The stats you and hi8is posted were good but not great.

You can't compare Semien to Wong until we see what Marcus does in AAA.

I also don't know about his as much as Wong, he's a local around these parts.

I never said he wasn't a potentially good player. But, unless the Sox are planning on reconstructing the Metrodome in downtown Chicago, I don't think a lineup consisting of 6-7 2b-types is going to be very effective.

I wouldn't hate it the trade included him but I don't think he's a must get. I'd rather have the young 3B, Kelly, than Wong. He's farther away and may not pan out but Wong may never pan out either. Kelly would immediately become the #1 3B propsect in the Sox organization. Of course that would be by default because I don't know of another in the system.

Draft pedigree and professional scouting analysis. It's pretty much all I have to go on since I haven't scouted either in person or on tape. Has little to do with statistics, I'm aware of the bloated stat lines of PCL hitters.

Jake to Beantown has legs.

They have plenty of pitching prospects. Owens, Barnes, Webster, Ranaudo, Workman, Britton etc.

I would love Cecchini but I have a feeling that it's wishful thinking. Other than that I like Swihart and Mookie. Not huge on Brentz, Iglesias, or Marrero though.

Any idea who we would be focused on there?

Does the rumor that I posted this afternoon (heard on a Chicago radio station) have any merit? It is back two or three pages. Thanks.

Hell, I meant this for Bucket!

Closer it gets the less I can say.

Any clue if this St.L business is true?

Thanks for sharing. We're all pretty much just checking here all day to see when you post
