Appears that Baltimore's system is very pitching heavy. I'd think Hahn would be pushing for impact position players, so I'm not sure this is a good match unless Baltimore gives up Gausman or Bundy (which they shouldn't).

I agree. It's just another team that can drive up the price. This gives Hahn even more leverage now because this might scare the Red Sox to up their offer since a division rival is in on Peavy now.

What does everyone think Bundy's value is after the surgery?

I still bet that they focus on pitching with maybe one position player.

I agree, but I think the premium prospect would be positional and not pitching. This is just me guessing, anyways.

Well, Peter Gammons did say that we're targeting pitching....as mind boggling as that is

The only way that makes sense is if the Sox plan on flipping Quintana or Santiago in the offseason for positional prospects. I just don't buy it.

Maybe they've just resigned to the fact that we can't scout/develop position players

Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive.

Your actual age does matter though. The benefit of being young is it gives you more time to adjust before your clock has ticked out

He was probably the youngest player at each level. Most twenty year olds are in short season or Low-A ball. It is absolutely still impressive.

We may see a pitcher or 2 received in trades. They can always be flipped for other pieces .

I don't think that's crazy at all. They need value regardless of pitcher/hitter.

That's definitely true. It certainly seems odd that we are trying for pitching over hitting when all things are equal though (if Gammons is to be believed...and god knows if anyone is to be believed at this point)

That's the Giants gameplan and they have won 2 of the 3 World Series. Unfortunately, the Sox play in a hitters park, in the AL, with Miggy Cabrera in the same division.

I still think it's because they know that it takes 6-7 starters for a WS run. If they trade Peavy there really isn't much depth.
