Cerbaho-WG
Appears that Baltimore's system is very pitching heavy. I'd think Hahn would be pushing for impact position players, so I'm not sure this is a good match unless Baltimore gives up Gausman or Bundy (which they shouldn't). GGajewski18
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:44 PM) Appears that Baltimore's system is very pitching heavy. It's just another team that can drive up the price. This gives Hahn even more leverage now because this might scare the Red Sox to up their offer since a division rival is in on Peavy now. What does everyone think Bundy's value is after the surgery?

Cerbaho-WG
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) What does everyone think Bundy's value is after the surgery? Because Tommy John surgery has a relatively good success rate to other arm injuries, I would still think sky high.

Jake
Everyone tells their media that they don't have the money and/or willingness to give up talent for the top guys on the market....but suddenly they always find those things if they want the guy

I just don't buy it.

2nd_city_saint787
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) He was 20 in AA last year. It's pretty impressive that he's holding his own. Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive.

He was probably the youngest player at each level. Most twenty year olds are in short season or Low-A ball. It is absolutely still impressive. We may see a pitcher or 2 received in trades. They can always be flipped for other pieces .

Jake
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) I don't think that's crazy at all. They need value regardless of pitcher/hitter. That's definitely true. It certainly seems odd that we are trying for pitching over hitting when all things are equal though (if Gammons is to be believed...and god knows if anyone is to be believed at this point)
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) Maybe they've just resigned to the fact that we can't scout/develop position players "f*** it, we just won't allow ANY runs!" That's the Giants gameplan and they have won 2 of the 3 World Series. Unfortunately, the Sox play in a hitters park, in the AL, with Miggy Cabrera in the same division. hi8is
"We want pitching" "We want high impact major league ready position players" "We want Buddhist nuns" It's called drumming up interest. The more the merrier, good job thus far Mr. Hanh.
fathom
I have no issues with the Sox trying to get pitching. When you have a below average farm system, any above average prospect you can get helps.
