If Hahn doesn't get a package of players he thinks is worth it, he is a good player to build a staff around. I think it's a ploy to up the bidding. But if not he can still trade Q, Santiago or Peavy over the winter.

Or someone miraculously claims Danks and we dump him /prayer

The White Sox may well be trying to apply more leverage in the Peavy talks by saying they're holding him, before making a move... We'll see.

Geez, which is it, Buster?

It's ridiculous to think the Sox haven't been offered at least one good prospect for Peavy.

Make a freaking deal, idiots.

Yeah well you know what they say about assumptions right?

The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him.

Yeah right!

if they offers weren't better than Garza brought, good. There is no need to trade Peavy for nothing.

Peavy is worth more than one good prospect

Early today: Peavy says he's leaving Sox

Mid-day: Peavy says he could have another Sox start

4pm: Sox leak that they could keep him thru the deadline

So it's basically the Sox not getting the ideal offer and deciding they want to win the rumor mill for the day and go to sleep tonight making the suitors nervous.

Great point, that hasn't been made enough in regards to Peavy and Rios.

Still, it is fun watching everyone here melt down

It's the best. It would be different if Hahn makes this statement Weds at 1. However with almost two days left, its more likely a negotiation ploy.

My point is, there has to be value somewhere. So when Buster Olney says the Sox are building around Peavy, I have to call BS--or the Sox are idiots.

I disagree. The goal is to make the sox a better team. Peavy is an above average starting pitcher. That is worth alot. If the players you are being offered don't make the team that much better, don't do it.

If it isn't enough, it isn't enough.

When there are multiple teams offering proposals, you take the best one. It's just too risky to hang on to Peavy. In my opinion, his value can't get much higher. Do it now.
