You missed the entire part when Buster reported that Peavy may stay. Thanks for the advice.

No, I read it. Trust me, it'll be clear when the meltdown happens :)

@GordonEdes: Red Sox frustrated by "mixed signals" from White Sox on Peavy; would still like to get deal done, but price remains too high

It's pretty big now, in a seller's market, for the playoff stretch run. In the offseason he will be under team control for less time then he is now, while there will also be free agent options and other trade options. You also are banking on him pitching well for the rest of this season and not hurting himself. Peavy is gone before tomorrow's start.

Just brainstorming and looking at one of the couple of benefits of keeping him. Of course, you could also argue that we could either command more talent because it won't cost as much to pay him or less talent because they have him under control for less time.

Hahaha Hahn is mindf***ing Cherington

Don't you realize we are even lucky to negotiate with the Red Sox?

Love it...especially since Red Sox fans felt like that it should be a blessing that Cherington is even looking at our team for help on his club.

What mixed signals? You either pay a fair price or you don't get the player. The White Sox don't have to trade Peavy. If the offers aren't there you can trade him in the winter or keep him and try to win next year. I don't understand why a price being considered too high is being called mixed signals. I think it is a pretty clear signal.

Well, we can't know if the Sox were moving the goalposts or what

We know the Sox are on pace to lose 100 games with Peavy, tells me they have some holes to fill. Why keep him and risk injury?

If you are worried about injury, is that a concern of other GMs? Just asking.

Amen, brother. Great take.

My guess is Peavy will be dealt to the Red Sox by tomorrow. Look, if the reports are true and we are getting 3 players, that's a pretty good haul. And Boston has the money to take on the whole contract, so it'll be bye bye Peavy to Boston IMO.

Sounds like the Sox are going to get a good return on him from what I've read on here.
