The Red Sox have scouted both Alex Rios and Michael Young in the past week. Will be watching Jake Peavy closely in his next couple of starts

I'm wondering how many more times and in how many more threads we can repost this tweet.

I'm all for spamming the board on this one just because

We should probably have a "Rios Trade Rumor Thread" and a "Peavy Trade Rumor Thread."

Will there be pressure on him these next few weeks?

No pressure or anything, but we really need him to be good for two starts.

Only if he reads Soxtalk..

Aug 31 vs. DET - 6 IP, 6 ER

Sep 5 vs MIN - 6 IP, 1 ER

Sep 11 vs DET - 5.2 IP, 3 ER

Sep 16 vs MIN - 6 IP, 2 ER

Sep 21 vs LAA - 5 IP, 5 ER

Your stats are skewed by his last two starts when there was no pressure anymore. He struggled vs. DET when it mattered, then when the Sox needed a win vs. LA, he gave up runs early.

Detroit is also one of the best offensive teams in baseball, so his giving up more runs against them vs someone like Minnesota isn't really a surprise.

God forbid he shuts down the Sox' rival in the heat of a pennant race.

I'm just saying that the whole PRESSURE thing was overly simplistic in that it didn't factor in anything of substance related to the opponent. It really isn't a surprising thing that Detroit scores more runs off of a pitcher than Minnesota does.

Rangers want Garza in time to start tomorrow. Talking about moving on to Bud Norris if they can't get a deal done soon.

Rangers and Garza may be falling through "mystery NL team" involved. Probably either the Dodgers or Giants, but the chance for Peavy to the Rangers still lives. I like their farm system as much as anyones.

Trade Winds forum: pissing in the wind until bucket or a national sportswriter shares information

That should be the title of the forum, pissing into the wind instead of trade winds

Rumor has it medicals have led to the Cubs-Rangers trade disintegrating. The player that is having medical problems? Mike Olt. You guys remember me talking about a week ago about the concern for his medicals. Others in the scouting community are expressing the same concern. Believe me or not but I did my HW on this.

For the deal falling through because of medicals

http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/07...change-of-meds/

The Olt rumor there isnt a report for that just a few people doing some research.

I know about the medicals being the reason. Was looking for the specifics on Olt. I'm not huge on him, so it doesn't bother me much but Bowden and others seemed to imply it was Neil Ramirez's shoulder that was the issue.

Neil Ramirez got torched today which didnt help either.

The thing with Olt is nobody knows how he got vision issues. Some feared it may have been from the concussion he suffered a few months back. But he didnt have any of those problems going on before the concussion.

Anyway a deal between the Cubs and Rangers doesnt sound very promising at the moment.

I'm getting tired of hearing about Garza....hopefully a deal comes soon

Hate to burst your bubble but your link has an update...

UPDATE: We are hearing that it was meds on the Texas Rangers side and that it was one of the pitchers.

Perhaps Feliz.

Sure you can. Would you rather have Phil Humber or Jake Peavy right now? I know I'm going to take Peavy because he's a better pitcher, regardless of injury.

I didn't think I needed to say if you arent pitching you can't be better than Garza ,who is pitching, and pitching very well, which is what was being discussed.

Who would you rather trade for to give your team an edge with 70 games remaining an uninjured Garza or an injured Peavy ? Garza who is a groove now or Peavy who may have to build up some arm strength to get back to where he was and take a few games to get there thus shortening the season even more ? I realize Peavy is worth more considering the team getting him will have him for next year too but right now its who's better for the rest of the season.

Red Sox are doing background work on Jake Peavy, who pitches against AT today. Arizona, SF, Colorado also in the discussions.

If they are doing background work on Peavy, they should like what they find. Garin Cecchini would be a nice get from them as part of a package.
