ptatc
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) I'd be happy to have him as a salary dump, but not as a value piece Exactly. If the sox get kubel it's in lieu of sending money to AZ.

royoung
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Kubel? LOL LOL Phil Rodgers is totally oblivious. The trades he used to propose in his column were completely nonsensical.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) He's floated that a million times this year it seems. Kuble is 31 and has 5 homers this year in 70 games. He had 30 last year in 141 games. Either way, why would you trade Peavy for a going on 32 year old outfielder? This team needs young, cost controlled players. It would be a way for the Sox to eat money without technically eating money. Rogers floated this as Kubel could take Rios' spot for the rest of the year. Kubel however has been awful this year and the second half of last. But if it means the Sox get better prospects, what's the harm?
GreenSox
They're tweeting now that Peavy, Rios and Alexei all go to Pirates. "They" are unreliable tweeters. But heck, who is reliable? Certainly not Ken Rosenthal
Marty34
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) I could see them interested in Peavy, but Kubel going to the Sox? That's not the direction the Sox should be going. Everyone new should be under 25. Unless by taking Kubel's salary they can get better prospects. I agree though in general no one over

harfman77
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) Exactly. If the sox get kubel it's in lieu of sending money to AZ. Agree, and if he can hit like he did before he got to AZ you can flip him next summer for more pieces. Its a gamble, but rebuilding teams need to make gambles from time to time. Jake
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 44s The Diamondbacks have been considering Peavy for weeks, and if they get cash adjustment, they could make a deal. Towers/Peavy history strong.
Frank_Thomas
Supposedly PV is now listed as tomorrows starter? According to MLbTR and Cleveland's twitter page. The D'Backs may kick the tires again on Peavy, hears Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The White Sox are now listing Peavy for tomorrow's start against the Indians, for what it's worth. witesoxfan
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) Can't they just officially keep him in Charlotte and stash him in a Cleveland hotel room? Does it matter where the player is geographically? It's really a mute point, somebody (Peavy,Lindstrom etc) is going to go today or tomorrow but still. Rienzo can be in the dugout, but pretty sure he cannot be in uniform (because then he would technically be a uniformed player). If he wears a White Sox t-shirt or a hoodie, there's no issue. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) Supposedly PV is now listed as tomorrows starter? The White Sox are now listing Peavy for tomorrow's start against the Indians, for what it's worth. MLbTR link on the page Yes, because by the time tomorrow's game starts, the deadline will be over. If Peavy is traded, they will find a new starter. If he is not, he will be starting for the White Sox because he will still be on the team. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:54 AM) Hahn was responsible for that information. If you are going to bluff, play it out. Pulling him from his start if he hasn't been traded shows he was bluffing, and backed down. He wants to get rid of him, and if it ever said it was precautionary because he was afraid he might get hurt, he would be legitimizing any team's concern about his health as a reason for a reduced package. Many GMs have a reputation of being almost ridiculous with their trade demands, yet they still make trades. This is the White Sox one big chip. He will still be a big chip at the Winter Meetings. No need to settle right now. "The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him." -Buster Olney Unless you were interviewing Hahn and he said this to you I don't see how you can say that with such conviction. Olney says other teams say Hahn says. Wow that's such reliable 4th hand info I'd sure buy into that in a heartbeat. Not really, but apparently you do. Done. Who would we want/hope for from them Owings, Davidson, Eaton. In that order. If they got all 3, you theoretically have your future SS, 3B, and CF. Move Gillaspie to first. Trade Alexei and Rios for a 1B and RHP if you can.
Steve9347
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) What's a better rotation? It's going to be interesting what they do, and what rumors come out afterwards on what they could have done. really hoping if it comes down to it in the last hour Uncle Jerry caves and realizes it is worth giving up the Cash to get the prospects back that this organization desperately needs. If we can swing Peavy, Rios and Ramirez for a solid return of spects and a top 5 pick in the draft next year, we could turn around our farm system in a hurry
Jake
It would actually make a ton of sense to take back Brandon McCarthy in a D'Backs deal. He makes $10M next year and I don't think they would need him. Makes the money work.
Wanne
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) As far as prospects the names that are thrown around are Eaton, Pollock, Owings and Davidson. I doubt the first two would be moved but a handful of posters like them. As would I. AZ gives Rick a chance to be very savvy. I'm probably in the minority but I would take Kennedy, Kubel, Owings, Davidson for Peavy. Money probably makes sense too. If we got Owings and Davidson I'd be giddy! Wanne
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Eh, I think Eaton may be the most valuable of the three. I doubt he gets moved being a piece on their current playoff contending team. I wouldn't joke about Gillaspie moving to first. Many Sox fans would take that offensively. I don't think they'd move Eaton...
