Any objective analysis of Nate Schierholtz would scream "fluke year" and "not good at baseball"

Anyhow, this rumor is a dud. Hanson just took a long poop

Of course, but that doesn't matter. Give me the guy that is going well this year. There were far better overall releivers than Cliff Politte and Neal Cotts in 2005, but if the Sox traded them for 2 other guys, it would have weakened them.

Maybe the Pirates told this guy to go burn a mule for gamesmanship.

I know that Texas is said to be dangling Nathan in order to attain their bat, however does any one else think we could work a 3-team trade out where Texas gets Rios, a 3rd team gets Nathan (Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, Pitt, Cards), and we get a package of prospects. That could really make things interesting if for instance we build a package for STL (Peavy, Nathan, Lexi) or Boston (Peavy, Nathan) Pitt (Alexi, Nathan, De Aza), ETc. Probably no chance of happening but it could def work and fill needs for all teams involved. I still just get the feeling Rios ends up in Arlington, ever since AJ came out a month or so and stated they wanted Rios.

Well, Gerrit Cole picked and ate a booger on TV today

And failed to get you a point in fantasy baseball....I'm sure glad my fantasy baseball team is doing so well otherwise baseball would be so much more miserable right now....I put a lot of stock in the soxtalk leagues because I know I'm playing against people who know their baseball.

The reason that they are dangling Nathan is because they don't want to meet the price for Rios, so a deal of that nature seems unlikely. 'The Rangers appear to be trying every other avenue to avoid meeting the Sox price, calling other teams to pry away OF's and now putting Nathan out there to try and bring back a hitter. Obviously the team that could use Nathan the most is the Tigers, but I dont believe that they have the bat to give up to help out the Rangers, so they will need to come back to Rios.

That's what I'm saying, reports are that they don't want to give up the prospects it would take to get Rios. So making a trade centered around Rios and Nathan and we bring in a 3rd team to turn Nathan around to for prospects. I agree I think Texas ends up with Rios I just don't see them giving up any decent prospects for him, this could be a work through. Det may not have that bat TX wants but they have prospects we are interested in and no doubt the would want Nathan.

I just think that the third team thing is an act of desperation and they are not going to be able to make it happen. I think making the move for Garza means they have to commit to this season and will have to pay what it takes to put the team in a position to make the playoffs. The third team thing could work, or they send Nathan to the Tigers for prospects and flip those prospects to the Sox, but with a limited amount of time left until the deadline it will be very difficult to work out all the details of such a deal while also trying to deal Peavy.

Good point man the Garza thing put it in perspective. They gave up some good spects for a rental they are definitely trying for that WS. I hope you're right and they are desperate enough they take Rios. He's the one guy I don't want to see anymore after Wednesday between the lack of hustle and just lacsidaisical focus I want to rid ourselves of bad examples of we are indeed going young. Show these guys how the game is expected to be played in the south side. TWTWTFG baby!

Robert Murray ‏@RobertMurrayMLB 16m

The #WhiteSox are asking for two top prospects and a 'lesser' player for Alex Rios, per @jaysonst. Don't be surprised to not see him traded.

We gotta eat some money in his deal if that's what we are asking for. I don't see any way around it with Rios.

Presumably the Sox would be taking on the lesser player's salary, right? So that's eating money to some degree.

I see no issue with Hahn ASKING For that.

When it comes down to it, I'd imagine he is now asking (or already has asked) for the best and final offers from all teams on Peavy, Rios, etc., and will then pick the best he can get. Or, if the return is just way too low, then he'll hold on that player. It isn't that complicated, but I really doubt it is a matter of saying "I want this" and then it ends there.

Yeah, we have to remember Hahn is an attorney and a talented negotiator.

I'm sure he's doing just fine.

Rios' agent Paul Kinzer told Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune nothing appears imminent with his client unless other teams are willing to improve their offers.

Per MLbTR

Looks like Ricky boy is holding strong we need another 6-6 game for Rios with 2 HRs, 2B, 2 SB, and 5 RBI. I really want to move him, I know we don't want to eat money but if that's what it takes to get the package of prospects you want I'd do it, but it's easy for me to say, not my money.
