Rios, $1M traded to Rangers

I understand I am likely in the minority here but this is a failure in my eyes on Hahn and the Sox. I am all for getting a fair deal, and that may not be "the best deal", but you cannot fall on your face as we did. 2nd to last in baseball, big contracts on books and players clogging positions you hoped to clear for young guys to audition. I just can't fathom that of all the years we see major players moving for major prospects, this is the year they do not. There is still time to deal some guys in August, and the offseason obviously, but in my eyes things have delayed our recovery time.

I get we didn't want garbage or a guy just to have one, but creativity, as we saw with Boston is key in these situations. I can't help but be grossly disappointed and maybe that disappointment is being channeled incorrectly onto Hahn, but where else do we put the blame?

"I hope he stands strong and gets good value for these players"

"WHY DIDNT HE DO ANYTHING!!!!"

So much LOL.

Yeah, without having any idea what he was being offered, it's really difficult to criticize the guy.

From what he has done thus far, and what I know about him, I trust that if anything would have come up that really benefited the Org, he would have pulled the trigger.

What players are clogging positions where we have MLB ready guys?

Honestly, this is how I feel. It's a catch 22 I guess but I still feel like more could've been done. I wasn't in the room during his calls but to not make a single move with Rios, Alexei, Lindy, Beckham, Dunn, or Dayan is just shocking. I can understand one, but not all.

I would bet a lot of $$ that AJ will not be back here as long as Robin Ventura is the manager. Pretty sure most people don't want AJ to return. Just give the at-bats to Phegley. Find out what you have.

As much as I liked A.J. (and he took over for Louie Aparicio as my all-time favorite Sox player), I don't even want him back. Not at this stage in his career. I'd only want him back as an announcer.

yea, no pressure. do what he wants.

Just how he likes it.

It's reading into an extremely short quote. From what I gather, he's not allowed to like it here.

Oh yeah, bigtime clubhouse cancer. Awful person.

Last year, funny how we werent reading into cryptic quotes when he was giving us 100 points higher OPS

Tell me about him?

Potential Baby Tulo in the making IMO. I still can't see us being worse than the Marlins like I said in another thread, so Beede wouldn't be a bad consolation prize at all. Top of the rotation stuff, good potential.

Rock do you sense that Arizona and whatever other deals were just going to pale in comparison to Avisail/Montas? I think there's this false narrative being created here that we lost out on a prospect haul because of an unwillingness to give money over.

Where leaguewide were all these outstanding prospects being shipped around? We mustve lost out on a bunch of guys that went elsewhere, to hear some here tell it.

Beckham, Dunn and Dayan werent getting traded.

Lindstrom was borderline

The other two are good chips and you want value for them that exceeds what they bring to the White Sox, or what they could bring even at the waiver deadline.

From what I heard AZ was offering a similar package to what we got but they want us to foot quite a bit of his bill. I would guess mgmt wanted to unload the entire contract if they could, and they did. I mean would a package around Bradley really do anything for anyone on this board? How about getting Holmberg back and eating salary?

Are you referring to Archie here?

He lollygags it a lot. He's a decent player, but we need to change-over this roster. He's one of the few others who have value along with De Aza (whom people were also screaming to trade, despite decent numbers), and Alexei and Lindstrom. There is a reason people weren't screaming to trade Flowers and Veal...no one wants them.

I think poor coaching is a big problem on this team (I know- this board loves the work of Ventura and Baines so I'm ducking) and I hope that an experienced professional staff is brought in here....at least someone who's been in the dugout recently.

Of course the value of this group in the field is about that of a 50-60 win team (the quality starting pitching bringing it up to a 70 win team, which I think we'd be if we had better coaching and more effort and things not snowballing as they have). We can't go into next year without some major upgrades in position players, to at least bring some guys who can play some D in here, if nothing else.

Wait what? Jackie Bradley? Archie Bradley? As in top 20 prospects in baseball? I would be ecstatic if that was the return.

De Aza doesn't have the offense to play left. Yea, he's passable when we rebuild, but when your corners have no power, your deficient.

De Aza would make for a well above average offensive left fielder this year. His slugging would put him 9th among LFers. He could be potentially defensively elite there, which would help even given the position.

Hahn is over his head.

Give him time. Teams now know our players are available. They also know Hahn probably can't send money and won't just give away Sox players. The Peavy and Thornton deals prove he wants at least a viable prospect in return.
