Buehrle>Wood
Obviously it would really be dumb to dump him, but hopefully Texas claimed him so we can work something out.
GoSox05
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Dang. 72 hrs is too long in the twitter age. Only 71 hours 49 minutes and 10 seconds to go!
bjm676
QUOTE (elwood5892 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) @Ken_Rosenthal: #Rangers logical guess as claiming team for #WhiteSox’s Rios. Had interest in him in July. Cruz now suspended. Cruz, Murphy FAs end of year. This would be nice if his guess was right. Actually can get something for Rios If they get Profar, then they have a deal
iamshack
Makes me wonder if AJ vouched for Rios.

Actually can get something for Rios If it's Texas then we might be in a great spot. Hahn's refusal to trade Rios for peanuts at the deadline could actually pay off now. Eminor3rd
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Makes me wonder if AJ vouched for Rios. You think those two would get along? I can see them as maybe the types that respected one another becasue they stayed out of each ohter's way.
royoung
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) This would be my guess. No way. Hahn was asking for the moon just a week ago. He would lose all credibility. If we were in a completely salary dump rebuild, then possibly, but we are looking for talent to help us back. NorthSideSox72
There was a rumor I saw from one of the national writers, saying BAL was claiming guys left and right, trying to block teams above them. Hopefully that isn't the case here.

I can see them as maybe the types that respected one another becasue they stayed out of each ohter's way. They don't need to get along. They were in the same clubhouse for a few years though. They may just want to know if he is a cancer or not. Of course asking AJ if someone else is a cancer is somewhat humorous

Salary relief or not, Hahn was asking for, premium I think was the word, prospects back for Rios. Can't go from asking for legit guys to just dumping him. Eminor3rd
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) There was a rumor I saw from one of the national writers, saying BAL was claiming guys left and right, trying to block teams above them. Hopefully that isn't the case here. This is very plausible and very unfortunate. BAL is just slightly ahead of Texas in the claim order. Makes you wonder -- say if Hahn WANTED Texas to claim Rios, would it have made sense for him to watch the records and wait until they had lost a couple games before he officially put Rios on waivers, in order to give them the best chance of winning the claim? royoung
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) Yankees Ha. They really don't have much need for Rios since the Soriano deal. Could you imagine an OF of Soriano, Rios, and Wells though?
LittleHurt05
Who has to clear waivers in order to be traded? Only guys on the 25-man or on the 40-man? That could limit who is available in a trade.

I don't think they're going to get passed on by anyone notable soon, so may as well put Rios up.

Anybody on the 40 man has to clear waivers in order to be traded, though if some team were willing to give somebody up from their 40 for Rios he could come as a PTBNL.
