caulfield12
Hawkins 0 for 1. You guessed it...a strikeout. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130711 Edited July 12, 2013 by caulfield12
GGajewski18
It really bothers me to see Hawkins struggling. Question, did the Sox start Hawkins in high A or was he ever with Kannapolis?
flavum
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) It really bothers me to see Hawkins struggling. Question, did the Sox start Hawkins in high A or was he ever with Kannapolis? This year, he started at High-A because he finished there last year and played in their playoffs and did well. But he should have started this season at age 19 in Kannapolis. They know they blew it. And he'll be back at Winston Salem again next year. And if the same season happens in 2014, he enters Bustville.

Hindsight is always 20-20, but considering his age, he could play the next two seasons in W-S and still be young for the league. I'm willing to give him more than one or two full seasons before declaring him a failure. It is however frustrating to see our top pick striking out 60% of the time, no doubt he couldve started this year at Kanny and earned the call up. danman31
You can complain about Hawkins' assignment over and over and over, but if he busts it won't be because of his assignments. At some point the player needs to figure things out if they're going to make the bigs.

It should have been a full season of every level, and hopefully at 23, you have a finished product ready for the big leagues. They just seemed in a hurry to get this guy moved through fast. He does need to take what he has learned and improve next year with the Dash
Jake
A- to A+ is the smallest jump in the MiLB. You can ruin a player by promoting him aggressively, but not by putting an A- player in A+ a year too early.
