Please note, none of Sox beat writers confirmed this. Supposedly it was mentioned on the Braves broadcast. Not a word on Sox broadcast.

To be fair, the beat writers and broadcasts would be the last place you would hear something like this. That spineless group is afraid of hurting anyone's feelings.

You can usually tell though. My girlfriend is a Pirates fan. We were watching the Cubs-Pirates game last year and it was one of the games where like 3 players were traded mid game. They were all hugging their teammates and Kasper speculated that they were probably traded. Again though, who knows what Sox broadcast would do because Kenny added talent all of the time haha.

Changes in context, like length of remaining contract and performance, are important. Surely even you know this?

Entering his prime while making less on average per year than he is making now. You also realize Rios has 1 homer in his last 54 games and his total numbers are getting pretty average don't you?

And if team A would give every other team a B prospect for Rios, why wouldn't they give it to the White Sox? Just total foolishness.

He isn't exactly getting a lot of pitches to drive.

Why have we consistently paid more and received less in trades for the last decade? Looking forward to your snarky response.

Huh? KW has his wins and losses like any other GM, but we've had some big wins.

Off the top of my head...

Jeremy Reed, Miguel Olivo, Mike Morse for Freddy Garcia

Freddy Garcia for Gavin Floyd, Gio Gonzalez

Chris Carter for Carlos Quentin

Joe Borchard for Matt Thornton

Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Adam Russell, Dexter Carter for Jake Peavy

McCarthy for Danks

Esteban Loaiza for Jose Contreras

Gary Majewski and Jon Rauch for Carl Everett

Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe

Those are all clear wins to me. Then there are ones like (receiving) Javier Vasquez deal that could be called a win, Jim Thome, Orlando Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Carlos Lee all have solid arguments as to being potential wins or at least fair deals.

We can argue about the net effect of all the trades put together, etc. but there is no consistently poor trading going on.

Why do you constantly make up things to whine about. You have never let facts or common sense play a role in what you post. At least you gave yourself an appropriate name.

He isn't exactly walking every other AB. The fact is he is slumping, and has been for a while, just like he was when the Sox acquired him and I was resonding to his post that his performance back when Toronto couldn't get anything for him was far different than what he is doing now. The fact is, it is almost identical.

Has anyone heard Alex Rios' comments today about the incident last night? He questioned Robin Ventura and the way that the incident was handled. He thinks that RV sent a message to the team but Rios would have appreciated if Ventura called him into the office after the game instead of pulling him. Wow.

Alex Rios should be booed heavily today. Please trade him soon. I respect Ventura for pulling that high-paid clown from the game. Please get rid of Rios as soon as possible, Hahn. I seriously question the team that would want the guy, though. He's gonna be a tough sell to the fans of the contending team he goes to.

My scout of Alex Rios: "Aging right fielder who basically plays for himself. Does not care about team. Might remain interested in earning his keep as long as team stays in the race."

--- (Spoiler alert ... Don't read on if you hate reading bout Ozzie)

Also liked this part of the story as an Ozzie fan....

In June of 2011, former manager Ozzie Guillen pulled him from the game in Colorado for the same reason as Ventura.

"Rios don't run the bases; that's why I got him out of the game," Guillen said. "It's not the first time it happened. I don't like the way he runs the bases. And that's a message for everyone. If they don't (bleeping) run the bases, their reputation comes on me, and I have a greater reputation in this (bleeping) game to do it that way.

"They don't run the bases, they're out of the game. I don't give a (bleep) if it's Paul Konerko or Adam Dunn or anyone. You don't run the bases, you're out of the game."

How does the media get a chance to talk to him before Ventura does? Wtf is that?

Ventura obviously doesn't want to talk to him. Like he said last night, "he knows." He knows why he got pulled from the game. Should be interesting to see what happens if Rios drops a fly ball or loafs again. Really puts pressure on the situation.

You want Rios traded? Stop pulling him out of games to decrease his value. What Ventura did yesterday hurt the team.

You know what, I just don't really care. I like seeing Robin make an example of him. People can b**** about everything.

I know that Robin's job is to hold his players responsible. But when one of those guys is about to be traded, help out your front office and don't make an example of him for every other team in baseball to see. It's dumb.

I like that he pulled him, but I don't like that he did it in the most passive way imaginable. He should have pulled him immediately, had a meeting in his office right after the game, and told him not to talk to the media. It's almost like Ventura is apathetic too. Well, I guess I have to pull him, but I'm going to avoid the confrontation.

Rios hurt the team. Not Ventura. Every GM in baseball knows what they are getting in Rios. .... Can you say, selfish?

I am on board with those who say Rios isn't the only guy who loafs to first on a hard hit ball to the SS. 99.9% of the time that is an easy DP. Rio knew that and put his head down in disgust.....Can't remember how many times we've seen our captain PK do the exact same thing.

I don't think RV handled correctly.

Until the White Sox start to care (defensive errors and baserunning mistakes are mental as much as physical), the team will remain a laughingstock and one of the worst in baseball. At least this is a start. Get players in Chicago who respect the game or at the very least don't rob the owner by loafing and stealing a paycheck. This is a start at least.
