He has put solid K/9 numbers in the past. If you could take him on with a few mid level prospects that would be an intriguing package. With Axelrod, you are also paying for future service time, even if you have no intentions of keeping him long-term. I know his star has dimmed a bit, but I remember hearing that he was the second coming of Wily Mays a few years ago. Now that I look at his numbers, they look frighteningly similar to Viciedo's. Jason brought up a good point with the service time. It's tough to gauge the guy's value, especially considering he will just turn 24 in a few weeks. Honestly, I have no problem with it if it's for lesser players (Heyward won't be one of them during the season, BTW, because he is too valuable to that team at the moment), but I don't want to see a Jesus Montero, whose stock is down, be the centerpiece of a deal for Rios or Peavy.
