Sox trying to deal Lindstrom

I think the Sox would be better off either packaging him as part of a bigger deal or just hanging on to him and pick up his option in the offseason. He's a solid middle reliever, and the return via a one for one trade probably wouldn't be worth it.

His option is $4 million right? There's better ways to spend that money this offseason.

That's fine. Target someone at low-A ball and see where they wind up in 4 years.

Yup. No reason to hang onto him, try to get a low level, high ceiling prospect that maybe has struggled a bit so far that makes him expendable. No reason not to.

I'm not positive, but I think it can be up to 4 million with around 2 million guaranteed, and the rest being based on different escalators that he needs to hit.

Exactly. Look for a raw, potential high upside arm. Sox could use guys like that. Hell, look at the Jason Frasor deal (isn't that who we got Webb/Jaye for?).

Not giving up a home run all year is a plus. Bad timing with that outing yesterday though. Might as well take what you can get though.

He was so bad yesterday. I don't see how any GM would give up anything of value for this guy. Hate to be so negative, but Lindstrom? He's just another Boone Logan type of pitcher IMO. Just another guy.

For once, you're right. "Just another guy" is better than what a bunch of teams have at the back of their bullpen, but I wouldn't give up anyone of value for him if we were in the race.

That's why you try to steal someone at the low levels. At least those guys are effectively lottery tickets.

His value went down a good deal yesterday sure but they can still get something of value for him....Here's a guy who hasn't given up a home run in over 50 innings pitched who before yesterday had a mid 2 era.

Much like teams aren't going to give up on Rios over that base running play like you think they will, teams won't give up on Matt after 1 bad outing. still though he won't bring back anything that sexy.

I've been sitting home all day, checking sox talk, waiting for someone to make the Boone Logan-Matt Lindstrom comparison. Everytime I see him pitch, I think of Boone Logan.

This act is so goddamned tired. You don't know a damned thing about the business of MLB.

Gregg do you know how Boone Logan has been performing? One bad game by Lindstrom does not a season make

Greg is right guys. A middle reliever with a ERA in the low 3s and a fine FIP to match is definitely just another Boone Logan.

Other than not being left handed, Matt Lindstrom is way better than Matt Thornton (and Boone Logan too, obviously).
