HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Let's say your employer comes to you and says: 1. We're going to double your pay 2. We'd like you to change locations 3. You can work anywhere in the USA or Canada, except those poopy French parts Where do you go? I'd imagine some folks will stay put and others will hightail it outta there. I think I'd go to Boulder, CO Central Florida

iamshack
Montana and Wyoming would definitely be awesome later on in life...not sure if I am ready to be that secluded quite yet though.
StrangeSox
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) Montana and Wyoming would definitely be awesome later on in life...not sure if I am ready to be that secluded quite yet though. I'd love to have a little cabin somewhere out in the mountains, but not as my primary residence. If you like rustic cabins, this tumblr-like site is awesome: http://cabinporn.com/

DukeNukeEm
What draws you to those places? Weather? Open spaces? Small towns? Politics? I was hoping for some unorthodox responses like this More or less seclusion with a little bit of appreciation for the small town thrown in. I would say politics but when you're living in places as remote as Western Australia nobody bothers enforcing the laws on the books as long as you're on your property (which you can afford a ton of because they're basically giving it away in some of these places). If not for the ridiculous winters Alaska would top the list, but I tend to like seasons or at least heat over cold.
hogan873
I lived in Juneau for about two years and loved it. I'd go back, but there is the issue with being isolated...no way in or out by car. I could see myself going to Anchorage, Seattle, Northern California, and maybe western North Carolina.
