BigEdWalsh
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) Why not? It's not like he's got an Adam Dunn batting average. He still gets hits. He is one of those trade deadline signees that MIGHT help a team win it all. It's going back a ways but it'd be like the White Sox getting Ted Kluzewski in 1959. He was an old vet and that worked out well for the Sox.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) Are you implying that Paulie is having a better year tban Dunn? Give me a f***ing break. Konerko is done. Remember that one game where he hit a bloop double. #dangerous

TaylorStSox
I'd be surprised. Konerko looks like he's mailed it in and is just counting down the days until retirement.
greg775
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) PK is a lot worse than Adam Dunn right now. Dunn has 25 homers. Konerko is hitting under .240 with 7 homers. Stop trolling people. I just have good vibes about Paul in Texas. Just because he's sucking with us doesn't mean he can't revitalize. This is like Berkman getting picked up that one year. You guys may think I'm crazy. Paulie to Texas makes very much sense. The man MAY NOT be finished. We'll never find out unless he's dealt to a contender. Can he rev it up and get hot and help Texas win its elusive WS with AJP? Texas should ship us 2 guys and try it. Chisoxfn
You wonder if the back was bothering him a while prior to the injury and if that was impacting his numbers? No idea..he's old so he might just be done but If I were a contender i'd try to get Paulie. If I were the Sox, I wouldn't care what I got back, the point would be to do whatever made Paulie happy (imo).

Next time he bats for the Sox, instead of saying 1B or DH, they might as well say "Special Assistant to the GM"

chw42
I'd definitely go up to Arlington to see Paulie play before the end of the year if this trade did happen.
Jake
I just don't know why the Rangers would stake their season on PK finding his power, contact ability, and health again.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) PK's my favorite player of all time, but if Rangers are willing to take on the rest of his contract this year, they can have him without giving anything in return. 5/

southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:45 PM) Oh of course they'd have to approve it with him first, which I'm sure they already know if he wants to stay or go to a contender. When it came up that everyone except PK and Chris Sale were on the block, that told me everything I needed to know about Konerko wanting to leave. If he wanted to go, they would have done it for him already.

Konerko looks like he's mailed it in and is just counting down the days until retirement. That's what surprises me. How he can go from somebody pushing a .400 before ASG last year to now...don't get it unless it's some sort of injury.
