Harry Chappas
The Rangers inquired on his health and Hahn responded, you have seen him bat recently haven't you.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) That's what surprises me. How he can go from somebody pushing a .400 before ASG last year to now...don't get it unless it's some sort of injury. Well last year I thought it was his wrist. He got the wrist fixed but it seemed like the back was bugging him. Again, that could just be the nature of being old or he could have been trying to play through things and finally just said, hey I need to shut it down. I don't know the answer but Paulie was consistently good for a long time (quite a number of consecutive 800+ OPS seasons leading up to this year (and a good amount of .900 + OPS seasons as well). lostfan
What do the Rangers want with Paulie? Do they have a time machine? Fountain of Youth? Can we use the Fountain of Youth on Jordan, Frank, Crede, Dye, Urlacher, Mike Brown, etc.?

They plan to pick him up to repackage him and a former Indian to be named later for Peavy tomorrow. #kennydoingkennythings

cabiness42
Doubt sox brass bas the balls to trade Konerko. They absolutely would. If there's a team that wants him, and Konerko is willing to approve the deal, there is no hesitation to make that move.
Dick Allen
The White Sox should ask Paulie if he wants to go someplace else. He has earned it. If Texas or some other contender want him, the Sox, if Paulie wants to go, should make it happen, even if they have to eat everything but the minimum. He probably doesn't because he's the captain and a captain doesn't abandon a sinking ship.

He probably doesn't because he's the captain and a captain doesn't abandon a sinking ship. He's also earned the right to stay and have a sendoff this September if that's what he wants. If he wanted to go somewhere, they'd get it done, if he said he didn't want to go, then he won't go.

If he was playing better, I think he might be more willing to go somewhere, but I think he's happy to end it at home with little pressure. He already has his ring that he was a huge part of winning. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Why would Texas want Konerko? Paulie is awful. I'd make the deal just to see Andy Wilkins the rest of the year. It's up to Konerko because of 10/5 rights. If he wants to, you send him over as a courtesy and eat the rest of this year's salary. He's been one of the best players in White Sox history. Oh, and .317/.403/.524/.927 against lefties this year, .299/.377/.538/.915 in his career. He's Eric Karros at this point, but he's a valuable player against left handers. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) Cue Wite and his throbbing Konerko boner in 3 . 2 . 1 . . . We heard that Hahn told Peavy every step of the way what was happening. I'm sure he's let Paulie know about any offers. They asked Jim Thome if he wanted to be moved, and Konerko has been here for 13 years. It happened, count on it. If Paulie wanted to go somewhere, he would be gone already. Princess Dye
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) If Paulie wanted to go somewhere, he would be gone already. There are of course guys who dont particularly want to go anywhere, but then get the competitive juices flowing again once they're approached with a trade. In Paulie's case he may just want one last thrill of chasing a ring, to see if he can do it and be productive for one more stretch.
flavum
It would be sad if Konerko's last game with the Sox is the 100th loss of the season. I hope he gets traded to a team that could win, or if he wanted to take an early exit and retire, I wouldn't have a problem with it. He deserves better than to be on team like this. But he's earned his way he wants to go...
