Steff
Shortest game ever played. Name the pitcher who tossed the least amount of pitches in an official 9 inning game, who he played for, who the game was against, how many pitches he tossed, and what was the final score. southsider2k5
I have a potential partial answer. Greg Maddux pitched a CGSHO with 79 pitches and I believe it was against SD.

whitesox247
Zero? Or do you mean he had to pitch 9 innings?
Steff
Zero? Or do you mean he had to pitch 9 innings? Of course he had to pitch... All 9 innings, too.
Steff
And here's the answer.. In 1944, Charley "Red" Barrett of the Boston Braves threw only FIFTY-EIGHT pitches during a nine inning complete game. Barrett's Braves shutout the Reds 2 - 0 and the game set major league records for least number of pitches known to have been thrown by a single pitcher in a complete game and shortest game played.
