witesoxfan
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) It'd be like putting Dave Kingman in the Hall. Kingman was the same as Dunn wasn't he? Pathetically bad for stretches with a ton of K's? Then he'd get hot and blast some bombs. Like Dunn, Kingman never played for a playoff team did he? Also didn't Kingman have years where his average was under .200 for a long long stretch? -Only once over the course of his entire career did Kingman have an average over the course of a full season under .200. -He played in the postseason in his 1st season in the majors. He never did again. -Adam Dunn walks approximately 400% more than Dave Kingman did -Kingman ended up with 442 homers at the age of 37. It's certainly not likely, but 5 more seasons of playing could lead to Dunn ending up with 600 homers. Ultimately, Dunn is going to end up as the "Fred McGriff" of this generation as a guy who hit a lot of home runs and was generally a pretty good player but was never good enough for the Hall no matter what his final numbers indicate. Steve9347
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) And on Bleacher Report, Yahoo, Fangraphs, FoxNews, and a number of other websites. Holy f***, are you serious. First of all, Bleacher Report is a joke. The "Yahoo" link you posted was a YAHOO ANSWERS link posted by some moron. The Fangraphs post is from BEFORE ADAM DUNN EVER PLAYED FOR THE WHITE SOX. And Fox News? Thef***cares.

I don't think he's a HOFer either, but if you want to claim that you're stunned anyone would ever bring up Adam Dunn as a candidate for the HOF, you should expect someone to actually take the time to google it. I should have added "serious" to the word discussion. Also, adding a link to an article that negates the man's worst stretch ever (see: time with White Sox) makes no sense. I'm totally picturing a "scumbag steve" meme here. Saying something to the effect of "calls bleacher report a joke, promotes and contributes to a site exactly like it". And yet that fangraphs piece makes the point that he has a reasonable shot at 500 HR's, which if done in a presumably clean era, will give him a longer look than McGriff got for example. The point of that article will only change if Dunn stops hitting home runs, which he's back to doing again. That said, even if he gets to 500 I wouldn't vote for him. If Flapship were exactly like Bleacher Report I wouldn't be posting here because I'd have too much money and f*** all the b****es. It'd be interesting to walk up to a fan at the Cell and do a word association. Other ballparks, too: "When I say "Adam Dunn" what comes to your mind?" I'd utter something negative. Yet here people are pointing out he has moderate HOF numbers when he's done playing. Interesting.

I agree that at 500 he wouldnt even come close to getting in, but I just have a hard time picturing a 600 homer, clean player not make the hall no matter what his other numbers are. No, really? Oh, and it's because he does have hall of very good numbers. Because he's been a very good player during his career.
