Yep. Soriano was not going to catch up with a 100 MPH fastball up in the zone

He might not have swung at it either. Or he may have thrown the fastball down the middle and Soriano could have hit that into the left field stands. He's still got some of the quickest hands in the game.

The only thing you say for sure is that he shouldn't have thrown the pitch down the middle.

Even if he didn't swing at it, it might well have changed his timing enough for him to miss the slider down the middle if that was the following pitch :)

I agree, just hope Ventura does not play Connor at 3b tomorrow, he has been atrocious.

If he's our starting third baseman next year ... that is a bad bad sign of what the 2014 season entails.

Ha, like I said, it's all a moot point. Don't throw pitches down the middle, and you don't get beat.

EDIT: Well, you can. You're just less likely to get beaten

Connor Gillaspie is not nearly as much of a problem as Paul Konerko right now.

Connor Gillaspie is not going to carry the White Sox to a pennant by any stretch of the imagination, but he hasn't been a bad player over there and that's in his rookie season where you expect a guy to take some lumps.

Connor Gillaspie next year could be the 3b on a contending team if the other holes are filled in. I'm not going to be mad if Gillaspie is replaced, but if he's replaced it needs to be with something really good and I don't know that there are such guys in baseball. Semien might be an option but it would sure be nice if he could find a way to be a long-term shortstop.
