There were two calls last night that I thought had a big impact. The charge against Wisconsin with about 10 seconds left in the first half (Gasser maybe?). Going to the replay, Dakich was preparing a lecture about extending your arm, then corrected himself when no arm was extended. The second was the and 1 Yogi Ferrell got that I think was Jackson's 4th foul. Jackson didn't touch him, but Ferrell simulated contact and got the call (I think Yogi Ferrell may have spent the offseason at the Brandon Paul School for Selling Contact).

Other than that (and a couple no calls against Wisconsin early in the game), I thought it was pretty consistent both ways.

On Indiana, I've been impressed by Robinson's development and Yogi Ferrell is a beast. If Robinson continues to give Indiana a viable 3rd or 4th scoring option, they will be dangerous this year.

A few times Yogi was #lebroning, but thats good basketball. If you can get Jackson out of the game, thats smart basketball.

Its up to the refs to see it, if they dont, you keep doing what you do.

It was a fun game, not an instant classic as ESPN is saying.

Agreed that the two calls your mentioned went IU's way. But as you mentioned, there were some no-calls against Wisconsin earlier, and Yogi also got clobbered at the rim later in the second half and it wasn't called. That's why I never fault the refs for a win or a loss. It goes both ways, and you can't try to hang your hat on that.

Also agreed on Yogi's flopping. Drives me nuts. I actually kind of hoped that the one time when he did an obvious flop, didn't get the call and the Badgers got an easy layup he would ease up on the flopping, but alas, a few minutes later he was back at it again.

But although he took some poor shots, Yogi put the team on his back when it counted. Beasting this year, especially in conference play.

Indiana fans are obsessed with Wisconsin.

:lolhitting Yes, that's it. Go to an Indiana board at any time they are NOT playing Wisconsin, there's no Wisconsin talk. Go to a Wisconsin board at ANY point in the year, you're finding a thread on Crean and Indiana.

I can only speak for this board, and thats not how it works.

But who cares, you guys dont envy us anyways, so you have no problem with bottom 8 Big10 finishes and not beating Wisconsin for another 5 years.

lol

Seriously the most delusional fan base. You cant rush the court and then say that the other team sucks, it doesnt compute. This clearly was a big game for Indiana, it clearly meant something when they won. Why cant you just admit that? Why cant you admit that for the last 10 years Indiana has been below Wisconsin and thats the reason why the fans stormed the court.

It doenst take away that you won last night, it doesnt change the score, its just honest.

New changes on defense... Seems like Purdue and Wisconsin are going to have to change their whole gameplan. :D

(edit)

And you know what, Farmteam and other Indiana fans, maybe Im incorrectly lumping you with people like He_Gawn. But the guy has been obsessed with b****ing about Wisconsin for as long as I can remember, so it just kind of grates on me.

Yes, that makes me obsessed. You're coach himself said last night they did have to change the gameplan because of the fouls.

I posted about the Cubs last week. I AM OBSESSED.

Outside of this board I only know maybe 5 people who went to the University of Indiana, so like I said in my last post, perhaps its just you, and I apologize to the rest of the Indiana fans.

At least Im big enough to admit when I might be wrong.

I don't know anybody who went to the University of Indiana, but then I've never spent much time in central Pennsylvania.

Yup the team that is ranked in the top 5 is really being hurt by the new rule changes, just like you said.

Youre so cute when you move the goal posts.

Like I said, Im not very familiar with it. So yeah I named it like most normal Universities do. My fault for not recognizing the specialness of Indiana University (sorry that sounds terrible to me).

Indiana fans are obsessed with Wisconsin.

Butthurt?

I dont care that Wisconsin lost last night. I had a feeling it was going to happen. Winning on the road in the Big10 is difficult, especially at a place like Indiana.

Its just always an excuse "youngest team", "inherited 0 scholarships".

This is exactly what Im talking about. Wisconsin has a top 5 active streak for NCAA tournament appearances, Indiana not so much.

Youd think fans of your program would have a little humility.

But nah, they are the most egotistical fans I have ever seen. You arent OSU, you arent MSU, you arent even Wisconsin. Believe what you want, but those are the facts.

Youve finished above 8 in the Big10 1 time since Crean took over. Wisconsin hasnt finished under 4 in a decade.

Who are you crapping?

Im laughing, you won a home game, rushed the court, while at the same time saying Wisconsin isnt enviable.

Which is it, it cant be both.

The facts? Like the fact that Wisconsin has made exactly zero Final Fours under Bo Ryan? During a time when Ohio State and Michigan State have been to multiple Final Fours, and Michigan, Illinois and Indiana have been to one? Wisconsin has been to one Elight Eight and four Sweet Sixteens under Ryan. You can count on a Bo Ryan Wisconsin to finish in the top 4 in conference no matter who is on the roster. You can also count on that same team make it no further than the Sweet Sixteen.

Bo Ryan is the Big Ten's version of Mike Brey, except that Brey has even less tournament success than Ryan.

I dont think a final 4 appearance means more than consistent success, but thats just me. A championship is 1 thing, but a final 4 could be a fluke.

For example, Dick Bennett went to the final four. Im not taking Bennett over Bo Ryan.

lol ok

Brey has a winning percentage of 66%

Bo Ryan has a winning percentage of 76%, among active coaches that is second to Roy Williams.

He hasnt won a title, but Im not sure many people think that a guy who gets 3* recruits is supposed to beat teams like OSU/MSU who are full of 4*/5*.

I was thinking more along the lines of Brey having 5 Top five finishes in the last 7 seasons in the Big East but only one NCAA tournament win in that time span. Not a perfect comparison, but they are both coaches who have had far more regular season success compared to postseason.

You don't want to be associated with me? DARN.

As for who Bo Ryan and Wisconsin are like. They are a carbon copy of Keady and Purdue. Do well in the big ten, flame out in the tournament. Then tell everyone the conference is more important.

Not everyone, just Indiana.

OSU/MSU are more important than Wisconsin, they are tier 1. Wisconsin is clearly tier 2.

A better comparison is Roy Williams, who also did not win a NC in his first 13 years and had a better more established program in KU.

Not sure what any of that matters anyway. Bo Ryan does a lot with the players he gets, if you think hes a worse coach than Dick Bennett just because Bennett had 1 FF to go with a bunch of losing years, thats your call.
