Guy wants to make ND town white sanctuary

This has been going for a little while, but reached it's point of highest tension this weekend when Jeff Schoep, head of the National Socialist Movement - pretty much the Nazi party - decided to pay a visit and back Cobb's plan.

 

Leith itself has talked about trying to get Cobb evicted from his premise (as he has no electricity nor running water in his home) and they've also talked about removing their local government and becoming a part of the local municipality of Carson, ND, with its massive population of 250 or so.

 

I really don't think there are many people from ND who are happy about Cobb being here, and he's actually a wanted criminal in Canada. This is only about 2 hours from me and I too feel that he can GTFO. He said "I think there are more racist people in North Dakota than you would believe (sic)," which is so obviously true given the support he received.

And that's what scares people the most - to this point, he has done nothing that's illegal. Like I said, they do want to evict him and condemn his house due to a lack of running water, but with the backing of the National Socialist Movement, he'll have the funds and support to get that installed if necessary.

 

The scary/ironic part of this is that African Americans make up only 1.2% of the population and, other than Native Americans, it's the "whitest" state in the union, yet 1 of the 12 residents of Leith is black. What are the odds of that?

In what way?

 

To me, people will subconsciously (or consciously) associate with people of the same race, but if me and my white friends are hanging out and a black guy comes over to talk to us, we aren't going to say "go back to your own kind." We'll openly talk with him and have no problem with it. Just the same, white people will typically locate themselves in like neighborhoods, but if a black person moves in (or Latino or Asian or [name minority]), nobody is going to have a problem with it. They are going to have more of a problem if someone moves in - regardless of race - and starts causing problems that can threaten their immediate safety.

 

Quite the contrary in this situation. This guy, Craig Cobb, is saying "I own this property, I want to sell it to nothing but other white supremicists who also believe that white people are superior to all, and then we want to take over the local government here. I really dislike minorities and want them gone and out of here."

The civil rights movement was only 45 years ago. Imagine what the perception will be in another 20 years.

Its not really a perception, its reality. Now the percepion probably fuels it, but generally the more blacks that live in a neighborhood the less the homes there are worth. Like I said, its not as blunt as this guy but follow the wallets and you'll see how whites quietly vote on the issue.

His place was also vandalized recently as well, which is unfortunate but not surprising.
