The 31-year-old Purcey does not need surgery as of now, and the injury is expected to heal with rest. Purcey was 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA in 24 games this season. He struck out 23 and walked 17 in 25 1/3 innings. He started the season with Triple-A Charlotte, where he compiled an 0-2 record with a 3.03 ERA and three saves in 26 games. His last appearance was against the Tigers on Friday, when he allowed six hits and three earned runs in 1 2/3 innings.
