Soxfest Posted September 24, 2013 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Jeff Keppinger is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery Thursday on his right shoulder. The 33-year-old infielder wound up batting just .253 with a .283 on-base percentage and .317 slugging percentage in 451 plate appearances this season. Keppinger is under contract with the White Sox through 2015. It's not clear whether he'll be ready for the start of 2014. Robin basically said that this simply isn't the case. On April 22nd, Keppinger hit his low point for the year with splits of .153/.149/.167/.315. In the 100 games he played following that, including 87 starts, he hit .274/.310/.348/.658. Frankly, expecting anything more out of him than that is expecting too much. He has had a few decent years, and TB acquired him because he was non tendered. So he really can go either way. Hopefully the roster will be strong enough next year so they can pick his spots and he can put up decent numbers either to help the Sox win or entice another team to pick him up.
