I definitely considered giving Keppinger/Konerko/Ventura/Manto an F. Keppinger and Konerko were two of the worst 5 hitters in all of baseball this year according to fangraphs' WAR. Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 06:27 PM) Balta, what's with the extremely low grade for Beckham? If he was just any player he'd be right on the border of having played himself into being non-tendered this offseason. His defense is getting worse, his range is going down, and at the time of the year when the excuse I was making for him the whole season, his wrist injury, should have been getting better, he fell apart again. He would have played himself into about a C if he'd kept at least getting hits at a reasonable rate, but his year is borderline terrible again. winninguglyin83
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 12:12 AM) It's like everyone forgets Beckham is one of the worst players in the AL. Other than Sale, Crain, Quintana, Santiago, Garcia and Reed (for about 4 1/2 months) I'd fail every one of them. And don't forget Award For Special Achievement: Kenny Williams. He is the architect of this disaster.

Without looking it up, Keppinger has about 15 xbh's in about 600 PA's. He makes up for it with awful defense. If that's not an F, I don't know what an F is. He makes up for it with awful defense. If that's not an F, I don't know what an F is. Probably more like 450 PA's. Yeah, most expected a lot better from him(I know I did) but an F is pretty harsh for someone who for a few pretty good stretches was the Sox' most consistent hitter. He had a couple of months where he hit over .300 and had a decent OBP too. I gave him a D.

He had a couple of months where he hit over .300 and had a decent OBP too. I gave him a D. I was figuring he'd be a little bit better but I'd be around the D to F range for him too. For crying out loud the guy had a higher batting average than on base percentage for 1/3 of the year. Not too long ago someone made a job about having a below .400 slug% in slow pitch softball or something like that. One of the funniest posts of the season I thought!
