'Ace'(?) or 'Tub O' Goo'? Part 23

There's no argument Wells was heavier then, and as argued long and hard with baggs many times he had been successful at that weight, and with that back, using his method of 'getting in shape' for years, and it worked. His only other option was the knife, and back surgery can leave you crippled. I can't fault the guy for doing what had worked for so long, nor can I fault him for getting hurt. I won't fault any player for injury.

However, up until his injury he was our best, as JR himself was quoted as saying publically at the time.

The best what? You talk about Colon not being the same here as before he got here. There is no saying Colon may not be hurt. You blast Colon's physical condition yet he turned one of the best 3-6-1 doubleplays you will ever see and covers his position quite well. Colon is a power pitcher that takes more out of you than a soft tossing lefty yet you will defend Wells condition (party life style) and mock Colon's which is much more muscle than Wells. I like David Wells and wished we had he and Colon but to mock Colon and defend Wells condition is foolish. Wells is injured becasue he is out of shape. Colon pitches well and works well with the big body. I think Colon is in much better shape than Wells as well. By definition Wells is the definition of Goo.

How about your thoughts on David Wells.  Did he pitch at a much lower level than previous and look at what he had done since moving to a place he enjoyed.  Yet not resigning him is one of the moves you point as being a KW mistake.  There was no way he was signing with us.  He used the D'Backs and he would have used us.  You defend a guy that was 100x worse than Colon but then chide Colon who is pitching better than Wells and making about $4M less.  I miss the rational here.

Before Wells back went out he did pitch for us, and led the team. He tutored Buehrle who still credits him and others. He offered here first, and would've signed an incentive contract the same or less than the Yankees gave him.

David Wells may be a tool, but he made the effort for us as long as he could.

You are f***ing idiot.

You are honestly going to try and sell that bulls*** about Wells????

He showed up out of shape, and criticized his own teammates through the media.

He gave us 5 wins, and a bunch of bulls***.

To say he gave more of an effort than Colon shows how stupid you are. Colon takes to the mound every 5 days--Wells cared so much that he opted for surgery.

If you want to jump all over Colon because he seems like he doesnt care, or turns it on and off when he wants--that fine -- you are entitled to your opinion.

But be consistent--If Colon is horrible in your eyes, then Wells should be shot.

By the way, do you have proof wells would have signed an incentive laden deal here??

When you make statements like that, back them up with proof or just ease off.

What are you 14?

Wells has always wanted to be a Yankee. He hated being traded from there, he went back as soon as he could, and he worked harder than he possibly ever has just to be able to stay there.

That's exactly right. There is no proof Wells would have re-signed with the Sox. You certainly couldn't use his word. Didn't he have a handshake agreement with Jerry Colangelo to sign with the D-Backs, but when The Big Stein offered to take him back he backed out of the deal? He's a weasel.

Ncorgbl have you ever played sports? I know there was times I didn't want to let my teamates down. It didn't mean I wasnt trying any other time or that I wasn't giving 100%.

"show who he is" to me, just means that if his teamates get him a lead he doesn't want to be the one to mess it up...he wants to show them he can handle it.

You took that as meaning he doesn't try unless his teamates are playing good and you use that every time he pitches.

Wells was hurt, Colon is not.

Right now, whose record would you rather have for us?

Bozo, you're a f***ing moron.

Read something before you open you're big f***ing mouth. Wells was successful all those years in that shape with that back before he came here. Maybe you're just a big enough of a dumb f*** to go under the knife when avoiding it was working, but some of us are not that f***ing stupid.

I have David Wells word on the subject. That's all the f*** you get.

And change your diaper, you smell.

I believe his word. There is no question he wanted to be a Yankee his entire career, but I do believe he would've signed here when he offered to Williams.

Ha!!  At least he's moving up the age chart.  I figured him for about 10 years old.

That would put an ass like you in you Daddy's right sack. Watch out for that toilet seat.

Yes.

If it was just me that took it that way, I'd say fine, I'd agree with you, and we probably wouldn't have this discussion, I wouldn't have posted it.

However, It wasn't just me. Manuel was quoted in the paper as saying that Colon needed to step up earlier in games, and not wait for his teammates. Further, private conversations say the same thing. Disreagard what I claim. Dd you watch his last loss? Can you read lips? Sandy Alomar said a mouthful at him as he walked off.

Nothing here, nor on the field has changed my mind at all. Colon only serves Colon. I do not believe that he wants to be here, to pitch for us. I believe he quit in the cUB game, and he's quit other times as well. Hs record tells me he just doesn't care about the Sox, and he knows he'll still get the big bucks with a poor season here, blaming us. I do not see the 'Tub O' Goo' making an effort for us at all.
