Princess Dye
Anyone have craft(or otherwise) beer/food matches for me? For instance I've heard standard things like IPA & pizza, or barbecue with porter/stout. In particular I have a Duvel right now and am not loving the food suggestions I see online for this..... In truth I kind of do this as a food-then-beer experience...not simultaneous generally unless we're talking macro lagers.
G&T
The usual rule is that hops pair with fats. So an IPA goes well with burgers, and red meat. White meat will pair with less hoppy beer. Duvel is tough match because it is delicate. I'd prefer it with fruit or some blue cheese. I think the best way the handle the pairing is to go with opposing flavors. I know people pretend to like imperial stouts with dessert, for example, but I'll take a citrusy IPA. I don't pair stouts often but I think they would work well with BBQ. However if you are having a thanksgiving type meal with a ton of different foods, I'll take a saison. Specifically Saison DuPont. Funk goes with funk though. Funky cheese and sour beer, a wonderful combination.
FlaSoxxJim
Best food match for Duvel: Mussels steamed in garlic, shallots and Belgian ale. Also the best food pairing for guezue lambic. G&T's suggestions of cheeses and salted meats etc., is also excellent. Stouts and porters pair very well with oysters. There's an entire festival in Galway every November that showcases that wonderful pairing. And of course my personal favorite food and beer pairing: Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and Hershey Special Dark Chocolate.

I suggest checking out their other beers if you can find them, specifically Moinette. One of, if not my favorite beer.
