I agree. It definitely appears to be an anti-Moneyball move.

Which is funny because baseball writers were filling my twitter feed with "Billy Beane does it again!!" and "No one had a better Monday than Billy Beane, he continues to find these deals". I'm not sure how spending $33M on Kazmir and Jim Johnson is anything like a typical Billy Beane move in any capacity.

Nathan to Detroit. Sort of explains the Fister deal.

The more free agents off the board before the Winter Meetings, the more exciting they will be.

i was hoping theyd get wilson instead because nathan is legit and wilson does carry some concern. oh well.

Closer Brian Wilson informed the #Tigers on Monday that he was going in a different direction, and is in heavy discussions with the #Dodgers

Remember this on the Tigers: Their payments to Rangers for Fielder contract do not begin until 2016.

Sources: Oakland not done wheeling and dealing. At least one trade is nearing completion, may be more to come.

Source: Gentry to #Athletics, Choice to #Rangers. Other, less significant pieces involved. First reported by @JeffPassan.

Multiple reports saying that this deal is OF prospect Michael Choice to Texas and OF Craig Gentry to Oakland. I bet Choice is part of package that will be used to acquire David Price. Just a hunch.

Final trade between Oakland and Texas: A's get Craig Gentry and Josh Lindblom, Rangers get Michael Choice and Chris Bostick.

Dont get what the A's are thinking there, Choice seems like a big haul alone for Gentry. I was really hoping the Sox could swing something for him when they traded Peavy.

All these teams are making moves these past couple weeks while the White Sox just sit there, masturbating.

It's a little frustrating seeing other teams get stuff done, no doubt. But we'll see what happens during the Winter Meetings. It's more exciting when it happens there anyway. It gets more attention.

Source tells me #Marlins are offering Saltalamacchia 2 years w/ 3rd-yr team option. Guessing Twins will have to top it (guarantee 3rd year?)

Most were guessing in the 4 yr. range . Maybe Hahn jumps in the bidding if it's 3 years. Nah.

Ha ha this is priceless! Great way of wording it. Cum-on Hahn, blow this wad already and give fans something to talk about!

Wow, I am not obsessed with Holmberg like everyone else around here but if the Reds made the trade 1-for-1 (Hannigan-for-Holmberg) you have to think that is good value for the catcher.

It seems as if Arizona isn't receiving any players back either. They must really be hurting for $$. I would imagine it's Hanigan to TB with the reported new deal. Holmberg to Cincinnati. Heath Bell to TB with Cincinnati picking up the tab. Is that enough?
