spiderman
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) Choo to the Rangers. A 7 year deal? Who are they competing against for Choo? Maybe Seattle/Cincinnati, etc. were all in on this, but my first thought is that Texas got a really good player for the first 3 or so years. chw42
That Texas lineup just got a lot better. Their top 5 is pretty dangerous with Choo, Beltre, and Fielder.
Quin
Wow. Getting cheap players like Hahn is doing is becoming even more important in this crazy ass FA environment. Edited December 21, 2013 by Quinarvy

Jake
What do you think Shin Soo Choo would have gotten if he had hit the market a year ago? That is one of the first things I think about when evaluating a deal. When a guy's likely value jumps tremendously from one year to the next, especially at Choo's age, I tend to think the current value is too high. Just dumb luck, coming off an excellent season with the Reds, and the money having to flow somewhere. Nelson Cruz is basically the only big name FA position player dangling out there, and the Stephen Drew's signing MIGHT have some impact on the Alexei Ramirez market, if there is one actually. Seriously the kid managed a double digit ERA and a WHIP of just under 4.000 in 42 IP over a period of years. That is impressive.
