Jose Abreu
Darvish, Iwakuma, Scherzer. If Sale didn't have that one September start vs Cleveland... Who wins? I think Scherzer will due to wins (which don't matter). Edited November 6, 2013 by ChiSoxFan05

Jose Abreu
If there are three finalists, how do people finish in 4th, 5th, etc.? I hope Sale gets 4th over Felix.

LittleHurt05
Impressed to see the voters put Iwakuma in the top three, unheralded and overshadowed by Felix, but very deserving.
Jose Abreu
I think the top 5 will be 5. Felix 4. Sale 3. Iwakuma 2. Darvish 1. Scherzer
ChiliIrishHammock24
Iwakuma as the 3rd finalist instead of Felix or Anibal Sanchez? WHAT? But regardless, I'd give Scherzer the CY, and it has nothing to do with wins. Felix with be my #2. TheFutureIsNear
Iwakuma was 3rd in ERA, 2nd in WHIP, 3rd in IP, and 1st in WAR (depending on where you look). Not sure how you could be upset with him being a finalist. Sale has an amazing year and will have plenty of more chances to win it. I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't win 1 by the time he's 30. pettie4sox
No offense to Max, he is a great pitcher but he had sooooo much fuggin run support it's not even funny. Darvish had 4 1-0 loses.
Balta1701
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 12:49 PM) No offense to Max, he is a great pitcher but he had sooooo much fuggin run support it's not even funny. Darvish had 4 1-0 loses. As many have noted previously, this feeds back into his other numbers. A guy who has a lot of 1-0 games is going to be pushing his ERA as low as it can go and maybe even trying to pile up the strikeouts so that guys don't get on base. A guy who has a 5 run lead may say "here it is, hit it" more often to avoid piling up his pitch count and to help his bullpen out...leading to a higher ERA. CWSpalehoseCWS
They just talked about Sale on Clubhouse Confidential and brought up using all these SABR type states that Sale faced tougher opponents, pitched in tougher ballparks, and had a better K/BB ratio than Scherzer. The one guy was really high on Sale too. I'm not saying Sale deserves to win the Cy Young, but it's nice to see him get some love on MLB Network. wardo2178
I think Max wins due to the number of wins and the fact that he is the only finalist who's team made the playoffs. And considering they only won the division by 1 game, it shows how much those wins (although an overrated stat) mattered.

Welcome to Soxtalk, but you just gave the two very last things I would ever consider for a Cy Young contender.
