flavum
Verlander has been bad for five starts now. Torii Hunter made an error that he didn't pitch over, and now Brett Lawrie took him deep. 6-3 Jays, top 6 Big series next week. Huge.
greg775
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:55 PM) Verlander has been bad for five starts now. Torii Hunter made an error that he didn't pitch over, and now Brett Lawrie took him deep. 6-3 Jays, top 6 Big series next week. Huge. Bad for five starts ... Hmm is Verlander still an ace? cabiness42
Bad for five starts ... Hmm is Verlander still an ace? If you had to start a playoff series tomorrow with Danks, Quintana, Sale and Verlander (assuming all are equally rested), what order are you putting them in? Balta1701
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) How about Scherzer, Sanchez, Porcello, Smyly, Verlander? As of right now you'd probably take Verlander over Smyly but only because of the big guy's history.
southsider2k5
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 12m The Tigers have a minus-50 run differential in their last 17 games . . . Folks, that is hard to do.

I'm not greedy--I'll settle for them being only minus-25 over their next 17 games.
caulfield12
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) How about Scherzer, Sanchez, Porcello, Smyly, Verlander? Probably Verlander 3rd. Smyly hasn't been a full-time starter since his rookie year and you just can't put Porcello ahead of Verlander in the post-season when you're paying him that kind of money...he's got to prove in the post-season that he's going to get bombed at least once and maybe twice before you pull him from the rotation. Look how long the Red Sox stuck with Peavy when he was giving them mediocre to terrible starts.
greg775
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) I'm not greedy--I'll settle for them being only minus-25 over their next 17 games. Sox desperately need to split with Detroit in that 4-game series. Losing 3 or more and forget it, we won't be contending this year with the Tigers in that scenario. Time to play with them on their level.

caulfield12
White Sox will pick him up as Dunn's replacement for next season, haha. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-180411853.html Scherzer taking out an insurance policy on himself to protect against $144 million injury...surely will be a new trend for high-end pitchers.
