Verlander, never known for his sense of humility, says the A's/Cubs trade is all about competing with the Tigers...

Verlander on A's and trade: "If they want to win a World Series, they are envisioning that they have to go through us."

Tigers have eliminated the A's the last two years, etc.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:23 AM)
Remember when the Royals moved into first place and they were gonna win the World Series and their prospects were finally validated? Yeah, they are about to be 5.5 games back again.

They can't win at home; they are toast. That 10-game win streak was nice for them, though.

They brought in Scott Downs for god's sake.

Would love to see the Tigers blow it. It's possible without Leyland. I'm not a Royals fan but I'd love to see them win it if the Sox can't. Fans are obnoxious here but they've been waiting 25-30 years for playoffs. Now that Hosmer is hurt they are hot. Hosmer is a prima donna IMO.

Moustakas and Ioki and Salvador Perez are pretty hot.

Pretty sad the Wal Mart cheapies have a better team than the Sox. Very sad.

Interesting to know that a quote from C.S Lewis is the reason that Monaghan sold the Tigers and indirectly why we're having such a tough time competing with Ilitch/Dombrowski since 2006.

If only he'd won the World Series in 2006, things might be different now. But maybe not. It's a lot like the Reinsdorf story, chasing after that elusive first trophy.

Tigers might be in trouble.

Nathan blew another save, but Soria bailed him out of a bases-loaded one situation by getting a pop-up and fly out. Six blown saves, 80 saves for the Rangers. 6 blown saves, 24 converted for the Tigers. YIKES.

Sanchez went down yesterday and had an MRI today, not sure what the results are...Soria today with some sort of back/side/oblique problem.

Joba blew the game in extras. Royals only 2 games back.
