No, the argument is he has stated the White Sox shouldn't acquire pieces that are short term solutions. Weiters is repped by Boras. You can say maybe this maybe that, but reality is he would be a short term solution who would cost players who otherwise may be part of the long term solution or used to acquire long term solutions. And Scott Boras certainly is a good reason to think Weiters would be 2 and out.

Do we know yet that Hahn refuses to work with Scott Boras?

How many years has Hahn been the Sox "contract guy" and how many Boras clients have they actually signed to contracts other than automatic renewals?

The other problem is he almost always takes his guys to free agency and if he doesn't get what he is looking for, will wait until March. You then are forced to make a decision to meet his demands, move on, or take a huge risk you will he left with nothing if he goes elsewhere.

If Weiters sticks with Boras as his agent, he is going to be a free agent in 2 seasons. If the Sox are flush with cash and not going to win in the next 2 seasons, why not wait and sign him as a free agent, and either develop and keep the talent that it would take to acquire him, or trade that talent for other pieces?

It was $13.3M last year, $14.1M this year, and in case you haven't noticed, more money gets spent every year. It's highly likely the QO price in 2 years will be around $16M.

so in 4 years it will be 18m? 20m in 6 years? no, dont think so. these guys wont be making that kind of cash.

It's the average of the top 100 highest paid players. It will absolutely go up every year pending some financial cataclysm within the sport. Will it go up that fast? Who knows.

It won't be a straight line increase, but to believe that baseball players top end salaries won't continue to go up is just dense. Look at history man.
