caulfield12
That gives them Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu, Haren, Billingsley (when he returns) and Beckett. Beckett will be earning $15.75 million and might not even be a starter. Billingsley's coming off Tommy John surgery. All six members of their rotation are making at least $10 million per season. The Dodgers have reached an agreement on a one-year deal with Dan Haren, according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the contract won’t be finalized until the right-hander undergoes a physical examination. Haren’s deal could become official as early as Monday. Haren is viewed by the Dodgers as a potential fifth starter. Chad Billingsley, who underwent reconstructive elbow surgery this year, isn’t expected back until May. Josh Beckett is also recovering from surgery to treat a nerve problem. Haren, 33, is coming off the two worst seasons of his career. He was 12-13 with a 4.33 earned-run average with the Angels in 2012 and 10-14 with a 4.67 ERA with the Washington Nationals this year. Haren landed on the disabled list in each of the last two seasons. He was placed on the DL in 2012 because of tightness in his back and this year because of a stiff shoulder. If his contract becomes official, Haren will be paid $10 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com. Rosenthal reported the deal includes an option for 2015 that becomes guaranteed if Haren pitches 180 innings. http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgersnow/l...y#ixzz2ldi9c5y8 Edited November 25, 2013 by caulfield12
Dick Allen
What's the big deal? The Sox added Javy as a 5th starter 8 years ago and were paying him $11 million.

witesoxfan
On the contrary, I find this to be a really nice deal for LA. Over his final 15 starts, Dan Haren put up opponent splits of .228/.271/.355/.626, a K/9 of just under 9, a K.BB of 4.67, a WHIP of 1.05, and an ERA of 3.29. Frankly, I see 8 starts in which is was truly bad all of last year. For a #5 starter, that's perfectly fine, because he was damn near dominant in the other 22, and those are areas he can improve as well.
