Bagwell was at 213

Bagwell was almost hitting .370 that year. I wonder what his final numbers would have looked like if there wasn't a strike. Same goes for Frank.

Frank also had a 205 wRC+ that year, which is a figure you just don't see anymore these days.

For comparison, even with Cabrera's great season last year and the lower scoring run environment, his wRC+ was 192.

Great for Frank. This is validation of exactly how incredible of a hitter the guy was.

Also 16 people didn't vote for Greg Maddux. Seriously? Awful. More than Biggio missing by 2 votes, Maddux being left off of 16 ballots means there are 16 writers out there who need to be b**** slapped.

There remain questions as to whether or not Bagwell was clean. Still, those two OPS+ were the highest by clean players since Mickey Mantle in 1957 (221). The only other names you find on that list after 1900 are Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby, and Williams (also Bonds and McGwire, but they were obvious users).

Safe to say that Frank had an incredible peak.

Where does that leave his percentage compared to the other all-time guys?

When you have 700+ people voting and a lot of them are old men with dementia, stupid things happen.

yeah I know, how in the world can ANYONE turn him down (let alone a TOTAL of 16), with numbers and stats like his. Just don't understand some peoples thought process. I heard them say on MLBN that there was one writer that would never vote anyone in that was playing during the steroid era..............and that included Maddux.

Percentage changes:

Biggio +6.6

Piazza +4.4

Everyone else went backwards.

Lee Smith, Edgar Martinez, Larry Walker, and Fred McGriff had huge reversals. Hopefully these guys will at least make the rule change about unlimited voting a reality.

Chicago White Sox superstar and Comcast SportsNet Chicago contributor Frank Thomas was today elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. To celebrate this prestigious accomplishment, CSN Chicago will be altering its normal broadcast schedule for the next two days to salute Thomas by offer a great deal of exclusive programming.

At 3:00pm today, CSN Chicago will have the "Frank Thomas Hall of Fame Special." This 30-minute program, hosted by David Kaplan and Chris Boden, will have highlights and interviews with Thomas from throughout the years. It will also feature an exclusive live interview with Thomas, where he gives his initial thoughts on his upcoming Hall of Fame induction. The special will also spend a little time looking at the career of former Chicago Cub pitcher Greg Maddux, who, along with former Cleveland Braves pitcher Tom Glavine, was announced into the Baseball Hall of Fame this morning.

At 3:30pm today, CSN Chicago will have live coverage of the official Chicago White Sox press conference within U.S. Cellular Field, where the team will announce Thomas' selection to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and new Hall of Famer Frank Thomas are expected to address the media at this conference.

Today at 5:30pm, "SportsTalk Live," hosted by David Kaplan, will spend much of the show talking about the selection of former White Sox Frank Thomas and former Cub Greg Maddux.

Tomorrow (Thursday, January 9th) at 10:00am, CSN Chicago will broadcast the live press conference from Major League Baseball, officially announcing this year's inductees (even though it is already known who they are).

At 7:00pm Thursday night, CSN Chicago will broadcast a "White Sox/Frank Thomas Classic. This" game from May 25, 1994 against the Minnesota Twins featured Frank Thomas batting four for five, with two home runs and five RBIs.

Frank Thomas spent 19 years playing professional baseball, 16 of which were with the Chicago White Sox. He holds numerous team records, including being the leader in home runs, runs scored, RBIs, doubles, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. Thomas was an All-Star five times and a two-time MVP.

Since retiring in 2010, the Chicago White Sox have retired Thomas' jersey number 35 and have erected a statue of Thomas, located in U.S. Cellular Field's outfield concourse.

Also since his retirement, Thomas has worked the last three years as a baseball commentator for CSN Chicago.

Frank Thomas gained over 83% of the votes to become elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame today, doing so on this, his very first year of eligibility.

Love this stat line:

Frank Thomas is one of just three men in history to finish a career with 10,000 plate appearances and a slash line of .300/.400/.550. The other two: Stan Musial and Babe Ruth.

Put that on the board.
