Kyyle23
Fister would have been a nice Coop project at some point. Very Garland esque
ChiliIrishHammock24
Alright, well if we are starting a new thread....then.... QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) Doug Fister to Washington, so that's great news for us. He may be the most underrated pitcher in baseball. A rotation of Scherzer, Verlander, Sanchez, and Fister is incredibly scary. So glad they are breaking up that 4-some. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) David Cameron @DCameronFG 1h Among qualified SPs, Doug Fister ranks 9th in WAR over last three years, between Price and Hamels QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) My god, Fister has 3 years left until FA too. I really hope the Nationals aren't giving back appropriate value here, because Fister should be bringing back a haul. Way better than anything Jeff Samardzija has been rumored to get. ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) Fister would have been a nice Coop project at some point. Very Garland esque I wouldn't consider an established #2-#3 type guy as a project. That's like saying Jose Quintana would be a nice project for another team's pitching coach. Only difference is Fister is most established, so Q would actually be more of a question mark.
southsider2k5
Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 2m Hearing Fister deal will bring three or four players back to #Tigers. Lombardozzi, Ray likely in that package.

ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) So the Nationals basically gave up role players for Fister....nice going Detroit Huh? We don't even have a single confirmed name going back. Rumors are ranging from Rendon to a collection of mid-level guys to Denard Span to a larger trade with multiple guys from each team moving. There is nothing on which to judge this trade right now, except assuming it can't improve the Tigers rotation, which is good news.

DirtySox
Robbie Ray is alright, but man the Nats didn't have to give up much. Kind of a salary dump? Edited December 3, 2013 by DirtySox
fathom
Incredible trade for the Nationals. I wonder if this is a prelude to Tigers signing Cano or Ellsbury? With this asking price the Tigers had for Fister, I'm stunned the Cubs didn't try to get him. Edited December 3, 2013 by fathom
