Eminor3rd
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) It would be separate to the Hanigan deal. Does seem weird. That would make it a FOUR team deal. And no talks about the WS contributing anything so far. Strangely, it appears as though the Rays will be assuming almost all of Bell's salary, which is, needless to say, VERY not like the Rays. Would be interesting if the Rays are sending Lobaton to us in exchange for cash to pay Bell.
ChiliIrishHammock24
Meh. As long as it's for like.... Nestor Molina or something.
Kyyle23
all I remember about him was hitting a massive bomb into the Ray tank last season to win a game

cabiness42
Well, he was .246/.330/.406 in 198 PA vs RHP last year. Not exciting but Flowers was .213/.268/.393 in 198 PA vs RHP and Phegley was .190/.213/.266 in 166 PA vs RHP so it's definitely an upgrade. He was definitely better than our catchers last year, by a long shot. Edited December 3, 2013 by chw42
Harry Chappas
He is 30 years old and has been ok, Maddon most likely used him properly, the White Sox will not, so I figure he will end up hitting about .180 next year.
ChiliIrishHammock24
It's funny because as mediocre as Lobaton is, the 1.4 WAR in 100 games is infinitely better than what we got from our catching tandem last year. That's pretty sad to realize.
BlackSox13
Throwing out 14% of base stealers is far worse than what we already have! Let's hope the rays pitching played a part in that! http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXlXXlobat...andard_fielding
lasttriptotulsa
I honestly wouldn't mind a Lobaton/Flowers platoon with the ABs being split almost equal. Definitely an upgrade over last year.

cabiness42
I want better than Lobaton. I think we all do, but I don't know if that's possible, at least for 2014. It's an upgrade over what we have, so let's be thankful for that.

flavum
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) I want better than Lobaton. I don't think it's out of the question that Flowers ends up traded, and Phegley goes to Charlotte. PLenty of time.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Anyone seeing anything else on Twitter to confirm this? Nothing else showing up on MLBTR The only legit place I saw it is the Rays beat writer mentioning it as a maybe Marc Topkin @TBTimes_Rays 28m Reports and rumors of #Rays moves keep swirling. Just heard Lobaton could be going to #whitesox, tho not confirmed.

PLenty of time. There isn't much else for Phegley to prove in Charlotte. Flowers gets dealt. Lobaton and Phegley split time in Chicago. Lobaton and Phegley split time in Chicago. Trade Lobaton to the Royals to back up Sal Perez for a possible bullpen arm and we start Phegs. Lobaton will assure me not buying the MLB package this year. It's like we are trying to lose games rather than spend some money and make a splash and win. Chicago is a big market city. Time to win again.
